What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

My oldest friend stopped by today out of the blue. We have known each other since we were 10 years old and we were pretty much inseparable up until we graduated from high school and went our separate ways. We still keep in touch but sometimes years go by without us getting together in person.
Anyway, he couldn't help but notice my leather jacket collection, not surprising considering they are stacked in a pile in the corner of my living room. I had a great time showing him the jackets and explaining all of the various rhymes and reasons why I had purchased this one or that one. At one point he turned to me and said: "you know, it's funny but I have never owned a leather jacket." As a true leather jacket nut, there was only one proper response to that statement, I said: "pick one".

That's my best friend Jacob wearing his new Vanson CHP. The jacket was not getting any use at all from me since I got my Langlitz Columbia earlier this year, and I am happy to send it on to a new home.
That's awesome man. A real gift that keeps on giving as you now created another soon to be fanatic;)
Seriously though, that's an awesome gift and a true sign of brotherly love. Cheers to you @El Marro!

So good! Great story! I am curious what his wife says...

That's an awesome jacket, looks great on your friend. Good for you! I too have handed over some lesser-worn leather jackets to friends - and it feels good to see these jackets being appreciated and worn hard.

Today took out the Vanson armored AR3/America custom for weekend ride. Got caught in torrential downpour on the way back, Vanson's super thick comp-weight leather shrugged it off, no problem. Actually I had a rain jacket but decided to give the Vanson a soaking as it needs more breaking in, glad I did

Below: Quick pit stop, storm clouds looming over me.

Below: reached home, all wet, but the Vanson took it all in stride.

Below: Vanson drying out, creases finally setting in, sweet! I haven't done this jacket justice, wearing it only once in a while, will give it harder use going forward. It's breaking in now, fitting better. Even with the thick Vanson armor pads in, it's now feeling less rigid than before.

That's what it's all about! And what a jacket your friend got...

What a nice thing to do. That's what friendship is all about and see you already have the secret of life. Way to go @El Marro

Beautiful and perfect fit. I really love the generous gap between the collar and lapels on Stu's version. I'd also kill to have that fat zip closing up my j106.

It probably won't do much help, look at my pin side reinforce part.....
The lesson I learned is always apply wax or hard soap before you use it!

Damn! Yeah I'm not far from that myself I fear. If I don't line it up with scientific precision it just folds and I give up. I need to try the wax. I forgot you'd mentioned that before. I hate to replace a zip that's not broken but a big fat ass YKK or RIRI would make life so much easier.
