Smoking my fav Virginia blend from the local store in a Nording pipe. Explain to me why I can't smoke cigars? I can't stand the aftertaste!! I see a lot of guys that do both pipes and cigars. They are both tobacco and I like tobacco !?!? They taste completely different to me. Have any of you experienced the same thing?? I love smoking a pipe and I like a variety of tobaccos depending on my mood but can't do the cigar thing. Not that I really want to switch over I just don't understand it can't be just the casings (flavoring) as I like pipe tobaccos that are not cased too??? Do they use a different part of the tobacco plant to make pipe tobacco or a different strain of tobacco???
Thanks
Kk
As strange as it may sound, it helps to approach it more as a hobby than a habit. Of course it often becomes an obession after that!
Now I rarely smoke pipes anymore because I do not like the lack of complexity in the flavor of the smoke and I find that many of the aromatics that I used to enjoy taste very artifical.
There are certainly complex blends, but none of them are aromatic in my opinion.
Try straight Perique and see what you think.
I've done that on a dare and only got a few puffs in. Bad news, brother.

I am officially addicted, in the last two months or so I went from having a 35 cigar humidor to converting my unused wine fridge into a humidor.
A liter?! Holy crimony! Send it over to me. I'll finish it.
I hope that was an HdM for that exotic little island as those produced elsewhere are hit and miss.
Go pick up a Macallan.
No Macallan here. The Glenmorangie was the most exotic choice available. The rest were Glenlivets, Glenfiddich and several Johnny Walkers. I've had all of those except Johnny Blue and I didn't really want to drop $150 for a bottle of that.
The HdM was a petit robusto for the same island you refer to.
I went to a cigar shop today to buy a cutter, but the guy there had none to sell. Fortunately, the was a better stocked cigar shop across the street. What kind of cigar shop doesn't have a cutter to sell? One in the Bahamas I suppose. :eusa_doh:
I understand that doing that works pretty well. Any advice on how to do it andx what settings to use?
PSD4 and a Montecristo petit edmundo on the beach this afternoon, the latter with a gin and tonic. Tonight a RyJ short churchill is on the agenda for after dinner.
Today a La Aroma de Cuba Edicion Especial and an island Bolivar on the beach then after dinner a La Traviata maduro on the balcony.
I'd be happy to bring back a box or two, but the prices here are through the roof. I'm sure we can both do much better purchasing them elsewhere. Also, I've seen people pulled into the US Customs' little room at the airport. I don't really relish the idea of seeing what that little room looks like on the inside.
