Hoagy Sings Carmichael from 1956. Very smooth and relaxed.

Ever since I found out about this guy, Eduard Khil, I have been listening to more of his stuff. He's actually a great singer! Coincidentally, I listened to that same exact song earlier this afternoon. Now this is a song you just can't get out of your mind after listening to it... :p

I was playing bioshock 2 yesterday when I started humming along absent mindedly. I then realised that I what I was listening to and got all excited! This was one of my favourite's from my Grandma's record collection when I was small. Apparently, I'd sit by the record player and listen to this over and over, singing along. Slightly creepy no? I was a peculiar child to say the least.

The Bioshock Soundtracks have some great 30's/40's gems on them though.

Ricky Nelson.

Unchained Melody - Usually prefer Roy Orbison on this one.

True Love - Usually prefer Patsy Cline.

Now I don't have one preference on either any more. I like Nelson as much as Orbison and Cline on these two songs.

Ricky Nelson - That's All.

Frankie Sardo - I'm Sitting At Home. When The Bells Stop Ringing. Class Room. Fake Out. Dream Lover. It's not a contest between him, Darin and others who've covered Dream Lover, I love Sardo's very different cover and I think he was very underrated.

Oh thanks. I love the Lawrence Welk show. When I lived in CA I used to watch it on PBS every weekend. Yes, I was an odd teenager in the 1990s.

78s to eat baking chocolate for breakfast by (haven't had time to get groceries this week...):

Starting off in 1932 with Henry Hall and the BBC Dance Orchestra offering a tune from the final edition of the original Ziegfeld Follies, "Help Yourself To Happiness," vocalized by Val Rosing. As with any Henry Hall record, it's a pleasant return on your three-bob investment.

Next, following a commercial for Lydia Pinkham's Vegetable Compound for Women -- make mine a double -- it's Duke Ellington and his Famous Orchestra surging forward with "Daybreak Express." I think this is my stop.

My parents rarely watched it but my cousins in Staten Island did every week so i saw it there on many visits. It comes on one of the PBS stations on the weekend but I haven't seen it lately with the pledge times going.

One thing I like to do is guess what year it is by the clothes and hairstyle of the men & women.

David Shire's score to All the President's Men. At the first few listens it doesn't sound like a coherent score but then it all just comes together. Brilliant work and as understated as can be. The cue "Exit Nixon" is brilliant in its power. Thankfully, no gaps of silence either!lol

Oh Would-Ja, Oh could-Ja
oh won't-cha, oh don't-cha
care for me?

What I've been trying to "spill", dear
sounds very foolish I know.
Say that you "get me", and will, dear
and so!

Thanks for mentioning the song. An old favorite that I've not ('til now) played in years!

Just played this Cal. Ramblers side on the Edisonic. Now I'm going to find the Kaufman vocal (on, I believe a Columbia disc)

I hate to admit, I'm a Welker too. Mostly to catch the lovely Anacani doing her own special thing.
