Hello, fellow vintage leather enthusiasts
I’d like to ask for your expert opinion on this late 1950s/1960s Schott Perfecto jacket (the label allows me to date it fairly precisely thanks to the chart I found here
).
I’m wondering how to tell if this is a genuine Schott or not.
At first glance, I think the creasing patterns on the steerhide leather are almost impossible to reproduce convincingly by artificial means. It shows internal structural wear: the fibers have loosened in specific areas related to the actual movement of the human arm over decades.
The Talon zipper is also a good sign of authenticity.
So I'd tend to think it's an authentic jacket. But what do you guys think about its authenticity? And what would be a fair price to pay for it? $200–$300?
Thank you so much for your insights !
