From a couple months ago, first trip abroad! Was a fantastic time, though the Stonehenge/Bath/Windsor Castle tour day was quite exhausting. Barcelona and Majorca were also checked off the list this trip.

Fabulous photos Ross. Did you know that the Stone circle is aligned perfectly with the rise of the mid-summer sun rise? An early clock you might say. Must have been hell for them when the clocks went back!

Just down the road from Ross at Stonehenge is Salisbury and that's where we were quite a novelty at a classic MG meeting.

The eagle eye amongst you will notice that Tina is wearing two different outfits. The one under the parasol was taken previously on our driveway. It will make her smile when she sees it.

We had a blast. I have a ton of pics, but I'd be afraid to bore you!
A hat on in a church/cathedral? Bad form. Did no one ask you to remove it?

Gee, thanks daddy! Busybody much?
Although I feel no obligation to explain anything to you, I will for the sake of ?
I do not wear hats-caps in churches or restaurants. I put the cap on for a few seconds for the pic. I often wear sunglasses for indoor pics as well, just for effect. I have repented for the evil deed of wearing my cap in St Peters Basilica. I am confident that I have been forgiven. /sarc

PS You sound grumpy.

Incoming social science rant...

In all seriousness, assuming that nobody did so, where is the harm, exactly?

I can also say from experience that a decent proportion folks kept their hats on in La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, I put mine back on after a while because 'when in Rome....' This might just be me being sacrilegious, but I think there's a distinction between visiting these places as a tourist when they are open to the public and visiting these places for religious services. YMMV.

More to the point though, hat etiquette is just not a thing anymore, sorry. If nobody found wearing the cap inside to be offensive, then how is it offensive? Most if not all hat etiquette no longer holds any salience in society. I've seen ballcaps on "business casual" folks in white tablecloth restaurants.

If it makes you feel more courteous to follow the old rules, by all means, knock yourself out. And let's not be mistaken, I'm not here to say we should break the rules for the sake of breaking them either. As I mentioned above, I did initially take my hat off at Sagrada Familia (and I'm not even particularly religious either). But certain things just are not offensive to the majority anymore. Maybe a head or two was turned, but no enforcement of etiquette means that etiquette is dead.
