I am looking into zipper options for my next jacket.
I am settled on a Riri zipper.
Has anybody experience with either of these:
Riri "Top"
or
Riri "Solid"
I think panhead58 has a jacket with one of these.
Any opinions? I don't have experience with Riri zips but heard they are good.
Oh, I forgot one thing:
Regarding the sleeves I wonder whether I should consider french seams (and where exactly)? They look very refined and less bulky and since it's a three piece design it might be worth it.
Any caveats concerning durability etc?
Thanks for the input. It's true the gussets on my FL are as prominent as in the examples you pointed to.
The range of motion though is great.
I like the back pleat design too, it's classic and hopefully somewhat effective (? What are your experiences? )
What I don't like is the gaping look that...
I am long overdue for my second FL, but haven't had time to think about it.
Originally planning for a halfbelt, I recently found my love for aviator designs, which are halfbelts with a fancy front (at least to me)
I made some rough sketches to get a better idea of what I want ecaxctly.
Here they...
Field Leathers (size 42, extra long arms) one off carcoat:

I would add a bit to the front drop (1 - 2"), shorten the back by 0.25-0.5", as the jacket seems to ride up when closed and add 2" to the torso, as it seems to be very snug. Sleeves are down to preferences.
You got the best advise already. The issue peacoats are cheaper and more fitted than everything you could buy knew. The quality is there too especially when you look for a kersey wool pea
