I just ordered the oak-colored hat with a 2 3/4 brim. They're going to take one of their 4" brims and cut it down and bind it. I also requested a diamond bash. It's going to take a week or so because they're waiting for a shipment of the larger sizes next week, but that's fine. Price was about...
That looks great on you. Give it a little time and I'll bet the color of the straw just gets better and better. If I could get them to do that hat with just a little more brim I'd be a happy man. Cheers.
That's a nice little hat, but I've found very few of the type we're discussing: Stetson makes a couple but not in my size; Borsalino has two or tree, but they're all center-dent with too much taper, never mind the cost (same with Tesi). Pretty much everything else I've seen is either too flimsy...
Zombie, the 3" brim is pretty big. I'll keep you posted after I get in touch with Jimmy this week and ask him about the 2 3/4" oak-colored fedora. What I'm looking for is simply that color in the same style as the 3" one. I'm hoping this hat would have the same properties with regard to water as...
I remember that we discussed this a short while back, but I didn't see a larger-brimmed oak-colored straw. I'll give him a call this week. Thanks for your help.
There's a line in "Nadine" that goes "Downtown searchin' for her, lookin' all around, saw her gettin' in a yellow cab headin' uptown." When I was 12 y.o. I was listening to that and heard him doing this weird riff starting with the word "headin'". Coolest thing I'd ever heard. I must have...
Hey, Zombie,
I've had the three-inch brim for some time now and wear it all the time. First, go with your regular size: they have cloth sweatbands and don't really shrink that much. Mine arrived a tiny bit large and hasn't changed too much although it's seen a lot of service. Shaping is one of...
Nice jacket. If it was originally from Barney's (at least from the last 30 years) it must have cost a fortune. I used to live a couple of blocks from them when they were on 7th Ave., and I remember that they were one of the first stores to dramatically present their goods and then charge...
Actually, this is a good time of year to stock up on heavier jackets. I just picked up a very nice, dark navy corduroy jacket from J Crew (so shoot me) for about $80.00: trim fit with high armholes.
NB: Just thought I'd mention that the artist, Robert Crumb, was one of the first people I ever heard of who dressed completely in vintage clothes, and he still does. He also amassed one of the world's finest private collections of early jazz recordings and did a number of fine portraits of those...
