I'm beginning to realize this is true. Right now I've got two pairs of shoes, a jacket (sport), jeans and a hat on the way. Does this mean there's a whole in my existence I'm trying to fill? Probably, but it's nice to ive in a state of expectation. And a shirt.
Many years ago I was at a party in NY when a guitar player from a big-time punk band came in wearing a red Harrington jacket, and he looked great. Somebody mentioned James Dean, and I said to myself that I had to get one. So, several years later I found one in a used-clothing store (in red!)...
Something's a little off-kilter here. First, it seems to me to be the function of a forum like this to discuss matters of quality: when you're looking around on the internet for an item it's a great help to have people with knowledge of that field who can alert you to signs of possible swindles...
I'll bet, but somebody'd probably try to steal it here. Anyway, now you've hurt her feelings and she's talking seriously about the Brownings and heading for the Left Coast.
Thanks for the tip on the Thorogoods. I didn't know they made a Boondocker style: both Thorogood and Golden Fox make them and both seem to be very well-made, with the latter going for a mere $89.00 on Amazon. Hmmm.
A good way to simply scan a lot of different styles is to Google the name of any of the hatters that appear on this forum and then hit "Images" at the top of the page. When you see something that appeals to you, just hit it up and look into it (you'll see quite a few entries from this forum)...
They run pretty much on the mark. Both pair of mine felt a bit tight in the upper part of the boot when I first got them but have broken in well. I just eased up on the laces a little at first. Go with your regular size.
One thing I noticed about both pairs was that I don't have to constantly...
The hat being worn by Val Kilmer in the above shots is, I think, the famous Left Bank hat (or Poet's Hat). I thought it was a nice touch to give Doc Holiday a French Symboliste reference. It suited the character perfectly.
I have two pairs of Thursdays, brown Presidents and Midnight Blue Suede Captains, and find them very comfortable. I got them on the recommendation of my son who claimed they were good boots for long periods of standing, which, as a professor, is what I do. Nice looking as well. BTW, I fly a...
Yes, but in my experience it's only for a short time. Every one of my hats that arrived a bit big has shrunk down to the fit point. I'd just have a little patience rather than ruin a good band.
Beautiful jacket and it suits you perfectly. The best thing about it is yet to come with the break-in (along with the thought that you've got one of the best and coolest jackets in the world). Wear it in good health.
I'll second Fanch's comment. I've often thought that if I had to move back up north I'd want a Barnstormer, and I've played with various configurations, but that has got to be the nicest I've seen. All the best.
With the exception of a few biker styles, we don't normally see someone getting another civie jacket in the same style as one he already owns. As a LHB owner I can understand why: it's just a really useful and comfortable design. Great pics, by the way: I never realized how much the style looks...
