Thanks. With regard to your last two questions, the capeskin is very light: I have a 1940's jacket made from it and it weighs almost nothing. As for the VAT, it seems that the cost is already built into the existing price: when you check out they simply deduct 20 % from your price of purchase...
Thanks, guys. Tomorrow I'll measure his chest and arms and maybe email the company, but I think you're probably right about sizing up a bit. I just saw them on another thread here, and the more I look at the pics and read about them the more I like them. I'm just wondering how much the customs...
Best of luck with your new jacket. Looking at Obwohl's photos above, though, I think I'd be afraid the jacket would waddle across the floor one night and try to take a poke at me. Cheers!
I've been thinking of getting my son a graduation present and was considering the AVILTHR A-1 for its looks, pricing, and light weight (for here in Miami). Anyone have any advice on them? He's a big guy who works out and has big shoulders and arms and a small waist. Would their A-1 suit that...
Hey, RBH. I'm a big fan of Sunbody, and their 3-inch brim fedora is my go-to hat, especially fishing down in the Keys. Would you happen to know which hat Jimmy's wearing in the photo? Also, one thing I wish they'd do is come out with the 3-inch in the oak-colored straw. Great hats, though, and...
I'd leave it as it is. As you wear it and handle it every day, get it wet a few times, etc., it's going to soften up and take on character. Mess with it as much as you like, though; it's your hat and, within reason, it's pretty hard to really damage an Akubra by screwing with it.
You really can't go wrong at HatsDirect. Their customer service has been top-notch in my dealings with them, and these days that's a very rare thing. They are also very pleasant on the phone. Living where I do, I'm always a little shocked at civility.
Very nice combination. I remember that those coats were very big back in the early 1950's: there's a photo of me somewhere when I was about four sitting on Santa's lap and wearing a shorter version, also belted. Beautiful coat you've got.
Thanks very much. I have one blue hat, a navy blue Borsy Bellagio that looks terrible on me (the hat style not the color), but it was the first "good" hat I bought. You're right about the color: I'm one person who likes the way blue looks with other colors, especially browns, but you've got me...
At the immediate risk of having my FL membership eternally revoked I have to confess that I recently decided to knuckle under and throw some money at some lighter-weight clothing from some well-detested mall-store sales pages. Among the items I got was a beautiful, light-as-a-feather cotton...
My wife's up in NJ at her mother's right now, so I just sent her the "Colette Beret" in red from JJ's Hats for a Valentine's present. I've had the same problem with my wife, so I'm hoping this one takes. LOL.
Orvis and LL Bean both sell corduroy pants that will last you and that you could wear around the office. They're also way more comfortable than Dickies.
Crew has gotten worse and worse. I see from their latest catalogue they're jumping on the exercise clothing bandwagon, which is all you see down here. I agree with Techno about the Heavy Americans, though, as they've become my favorite jeans. I recently went for one of their canvas sport jackets...
God's truth. I had a slew of jackets and only remember the makes of one or two. One was a Schott CR and the reason I remember it is because I picked it up by mistake at a party one night and didn't find out I had the wrong jacket till the next day when the owner, who had my jacket, called me. We...
Banana Republic (I know, I know) sells long-sleeved black t-shiirts that are very comfortable. I've bought about eight of them over the last few years and they work nicely with woolen sweaters, shirts, etc.
