American Patrol Caps custom made the Admiral cap for actor Woody Harrelson (who plays Admiral Nimitz)...
I enjoyed the movie very much, despite the lack of authentic jackets and the heavy use of CGI.
Additionally I believe some late 1940’s jackets, the first batch of 55-J-14’ s, have both a stencil and a windflap perforation as standard markings (from the manufacturer) before the Navy dropped the collar stencil completely.
Cool jacket! I know that some M-422a jackets were issued even after WWII and saw service in the Korean War. These jackets would have both the collar stencil and an added USN windflap perforation. I don’t think the manufacturers did this, I believe it was done thru the Navy supply system where...
Check out Gibson & Barnes. They made a black goatskin “Civil” G-1 (not 100% military spec, with side entry handwarmer pockets). Their jackets are very good quality once you work out the sizing.
Very cold (clear!), early mornings in the harbor make for GREAT photos (a fellow captain took this shot of my boat as I piloted her across the harbor). Perfect weather to wear a toasty warm floatation/survival jacket:D
Although I am a traditionalist when it comes to G-1’s and almost all in my collection are brown, I did find a US Wings G-1 in black on eBay. It was in like-new condition and I got it for under $100. It is very well made with a super plush black mouton collar and the thick black pebbled goatskin...
Your Golden Bear is a beauty! I just picked one up on eBay for only $70. Mine has a white label; not sure how to date these jackets. The white label jackets seem to be older but I really have no idea. Very well made jacket in a rare size 46 Long with a thick removable fur collar and awesome...
The jacket chest patch is reminiscent of a vintage Civil Air Patrol patch.
Shoulder insignia is that of a Major.
Jacket itself appears to be genuine vintage World War 2.
I’m sure others can be more specific.
Cool jacket!
Spent the day in the City, still breaking in my horsehide G-8 (made by U.S. Authentic). The hide is a gorgeous caramel russet, thick yet pliable, and it’s developing some really great graining/creasing.
Hello and welcome to The Lounge.
I am 6’ 1” with wide shoulders and a fairly muscular/athletic build and usually go for shirts with a 37” sleeve. I have a BR William Gibson MA-1 but in a size 46 Long. The sleeves are plenty long and the 46 seems to be a bit on the larger side. I probably could...
Another wet & windy Nor’easter passed thru followed by a “bomb cyclone” with wind gusts of 60mph!
This Mustang Survival jacket is perfect for this crazy weather.
That is the BEST Lost Worlds civilian style jacket I’ve ever seen! Great custom design @John D Maccarter.
I hope Stu adds this exact configuration to his regular LW line-up.
Here’s a bit of a curve ball: not my usual leather G-1 today. I picked up this Mustang Survival floatation jacket off the ‘bay in brand new condition for 1/3 the price of a new one.
Most floatation jackets are big and bulky and made with a cheap shiny nylon shell; this one is very form fitting...
Wednesday October 2nd in NYC it was sunny, hot and humid and 90 degrees. The very next day a cold front moved in and we got rain and temperatures around 50 degrees!
Crazy!
Got this nice Willis & Geiger wool jacket off the ‘bay. Has an inner plaid wool lining (basically two layers of wool in one jacket) so it’s plenty warm. Front cargo pockets, side handwarmer pockets plus an inside wallet pocket with button closure. Really a well-made jacket with great styling and...
Five Star Leathers russet goatskin M-422a with the Gordon & Ferguson label (the left pocket is slightly wider than the right as per G&F originals). The red lining they’ve used is cotton, not rayon or sateen.
While certainly not 100% accurate, it’s very well made and has the overall look and...
