The general decline in standards today

Grumpy Old Men is bad for you... I think we can all sound like that at some point! I'm not actually so sure that standards have slipped, they have udoubtedly changed as society has changed, but I'm not certain they have slipped. I think if we were looking forty years ago, we'd be saying the...

Waxed Cotton Classic Motorcycling over Trousers

I've got a pair of those and they work well, and a genuinely waterproof!! I use them for trailing, got the Lands End trial in a couple of weeks and one thing for certain is that it will rain, it always does... I'll be at the Banbury run, not riding - none of my bikes are old enough - but...

The Declining Popularity of the Necktie

Its horses for courses really! I appreciate good suits, shirts and shoes and wouldnt like to think how much I spent on them... But ties... No! I own a couple for when they are needed, but that is it; I'd never wear one out of choice. My job means I can't easily wear one, I too am in and out...

Need opinions on fit of Aero Cafe Racer Jacket

I think it looks OK as it is, any fit issues are to do with the bi swing style of the jacket. From the front it looks great, from the back it looks a tad too big, but there is more leather in the back so maybe it will. I'm not a fan of bi-swing backs, which is why I think Lewis Leathers jackets...

    Lewis Leathers Westway Boots

I agree with the comments above, Westway boots are very nice boots, but they are not bike boots; there is not enough protection. I wear altbergs, almost exactly like the ones above, as my everyday bike boots and they have been all over the world and are great, really recommended! I would...

    Cricket - willow and leather

Probably India, althought its difficult to call because it only takes one side to have a good game and it all changes. South Africa are a good side, but not sure of the depth of the squad... Also, the grounds are not huge, so boundaries will come into it much more, the game today was low scoring...

    Cricket - willow and leather

Good game today, with the 6 in the last over I thought Australia were actually going to bottle it! Good job Lee was bowling the last over!! I'm interested tosee how the ODIs go, I think they will be tight. It was being reported on TV here that Sunday's game is being viewed as a last trial...

    Aero web site

No they don't, they are not allowed too! They can only charge once the good have been despatched to the buyer, that is probably buried in the Sales of Goods Act somewhere. Because it seems to take an inordinate amount if time from placing an order to despatch, they can only charge at...

    Cricket - willow and leather

Haha!! Indeed! If NZ don't win this one there will be a national enquiry! I was in Christchurch last new year, 2009-2010 and there was a huge countdown sign in the main square, 2 years away from the event! Hopefully I'll get over for the WC. NZ should win it, but they have the uncanny...

    Cricket - willow and leather

I agree that test cricket is where it is, and I'm sure nearly all the players think that too! But ODIs have there place, I've had many good days at Lords and the Oval and its good to get a result in one day if you are actually there! Actually... who am I kidding, the best thing about one...

    Cricket - willow and leather

I bet there was! I'll see if I can find my pics from the place pre-upgrade; it was pretty rough and ready if still huge! I was amazed at the difference when I went back. Well done England, well won series, although it seems odd that it wasn't the normal underdog victory, England just...

    Cricket - willow and leather

Found this thread a bit late I think... Just sat here, hoping for the rain the stop and the game to be won!! Great pictures of the G, I was there for the Commonwealth games and the way its been done up is amazing considering its age. I remember going to the G as it was for a footie game a few...

Action shots of you in your best leather...post 'em up!!!

He's my shocking contribution... Excuse my look, but the bike and jacket are ok! I'm not an enormous fan of the 'new' Triumphs but those bikes look good. Mine is cobbled together from parts I had hanging around, turned out alright I think...

How much do you like your new Lewis Leathers Jacket?

I have a Lewis Dominator which I think is great, the quality is brilliant and it is great to wear! But you have to remember that it is basically the same jacket as the 50s one and the leather is not as think as some other companies. If you want a riding jacket, it will do the job but maybe...

Shipping my Aero NYPD back to Scotland for a jacket mod... one question...

Our VAT regs are a pain... But I think you may be Ok, actually. You pay VAT on items imported into the country, but your jacket is not being imported - its just in and out. The only experience I have with this is motorbikes (surprise). As a UK resident if I import a bike in, to stay here...

Eastman USAAF Type B-15 Rough Wear Contract 6338AF On The Way

Sounds great! I'd be interested in seeing any pictures at all! Its the sizing that is foxing me at the moment, I sit between a 40 and 42, but closer to 40, and I'm not sure which way to go, sounds like it should be 40. I don't want something that looks like a duvet on me, but equally I don't...

Eastman USAAF Type B-15 Rough Wear Contract 6338AF On The Way

That may not be Eastman's fault, did they send you a tracking number or anything? I'm interested in this, I was going to order the same jacket today, but it would be good to see your pics before! What size did you go for?

    Show us your motorcycles!

I've just built this, I got it as an engine and frame, and the rest has been built over the last year. But they are never finished, this has got really early forks which I'm now changing for later ones, but I have just bent the top yoke trying to get them in... Still biggest show of...

"End Of The Season" - who's broken out their leathers?

Still way too warm at the moment for me, aside from being on the bikes. It has to get to about 10 degrees before I consider any jacket, I have noticed people wearing jackets ove the last couple of weeks and then wilting on the tube, which today was up to its usual grimness! A while to go yet and...

Action shots of you in your best leather...post 'em up!!!

Ignore the pretty horrific photo, but the jacket is OK!! Lewis Leathers dominator, I can't remember what the trousers are, maybe crowtree who were bike leathers maker, now closed, that was much used by racers. The bike is a 1960 Triumph that I got as a frame and an engine and built the rest...
