BATTLE OF BRITAIN (1940) - Respecting THE FEW.

One thing thats ironic about the making of that film is that it was filmed at Duxford, before it was the museum that it is now, and the production did more damage to the place than was managed during the battle! I spend much of my time working at St Georges hospital in Hornchurch which was...

    Show us your motorcycles!

I have a few bikes, I guess most interesting: An AJS 16MS from 1956, bit beat up - I use it for classic trails and just having a laugh on. Having said that quite a lot of it is period and probably right for the time... An earlish BMW GS that I use for big trips, this one went half way...

Traditional 50's style Leather Biker Jackets

And here too. I live in the UK but got a fox jacket sent across, they are very very good. I wear mine on a bike, so the fact that they are heavy is good, but I'm happy wearing it off the bike too. An added bonus for this time of year is the thermal liner... They are easily as good as any other...

    What are you listening to?

I'll admit to not being even vaguely vintage or retro in my music taste, but listening to the Gaslight Anthem - The 59 Sound, they have a bit of a late 50s style image about them but sound more Springsteen like. And the Fleet Foxes, very folky a bit C,S & N but just brilliant!

    Barbour Duralinen International Jacket

I like my modern one and when I'm on my old bike (AJS 16MS) I wear it although I found the armour a bit uncomfortable and took it out... I'll be interested to see what it looks like in 20-30 years time!

    Barbour Duralinen International Jacket

Both the modern Belstaff's and Barbour's are consistent with the vintage designs. Most of the vintage pictures that people are aware of are taken from the 7 day's trial, which Belstaff have kind of appropriated - maybe to do with the link with Steve McQueen, so people tend to think the riders...

    Barbour Duralinen International Jacket

It still gets made in a sandstone colour, these guys seem to have at least one!: http://www.oipolloi.com/store/Barbour-ClassicInternationalJacketSandstone-3644.html I'm sure I have seen it for sale in the Barbour shop in London in colours other than the dark green / black.

    BKS Leather Jacket

Funny that one of my first posts is about bikes... BKS are great leathers, certainly the best bike leathers you can get in the UK now that Crowtree seem to have retired. But they are a bit power ranger. I know Crowtree could make just about any style of jacket you wanted and put armour etc in...

Let's See Your Watches! The Vintage Watch Thread.

New to the Lounge, but this a 40's Heuer. I am trying to track down the history of it at the moment, I have the serials etc but its proving a bit evasive. Still I really like it, it runs like a dream and gets revolved around each week with all my other (modern) watches.

Is the suit relevant in your life?

My first post... I've been reading this thread with interest. I own a consultancy operating out of central London and a suit is relevant sometimes. If I am seeing a client for the first time or presenting project results then I will wear a suit. If I am just working in the office I will be...
