Yes. They are adjustable. And they are very similar to the buckles on a 1930's jacket by Levis featured in Rin Tanaka's book on motorcycle jackets. As is the cuff design. But Levis did not make Patrol jackets AFAIK.
I'm not sure if the main zip is original- could be, based on that it's a small Talon, same brand as the pocket zip. And I really wouldn't venture a guess as to steerhide or horsehide. The leather is thick and has some weight to it.
I just reeled in this vintage Moto jacket from a private party this afternoon- had to drive almost half way across the state to get it...Came from an ex-rock n'roller. Can anyone identify the maker or the era of this jacket? Has a cool half-belt back with original buckles, button sleeves...and...
This Taubers horsehide cafe racer motorcycle jacket is one of my all time favorites to wear around town. It was pretty thrashed when I got it, but the good folks at Johnson Leathers spruced it up beautifully with a new lining and some patchwork.
Absolutely! These Cal Leather jackets were hand made, one at a time, and each one has such distinctive character. Really, these cafe racers should be selling for twice or three times as much, given the high quality, and legacy compared to Buco... Get them now before the Japanese start hording...
Offering up my vintage Cal Leather Horsehide café racer motorcycle jacket- approx. size 42. Black. It has the signature Cal Leather 6 piece back and the standard Cal Leather non-gusseted open zip sleeves. Early brass ring pulls on the chest zippers, talon sleeve zips and smaller early Talon main...
Selling my vintage Brooks café racer- size 42/44. Features the earlier “Gold” embroidered label. Gusseted one piece back. Talon teardrop zippers and Talon main zip. Two chest pockets. All zips work fine. Nice patina on the leather. Lining is starting to become a little frayed and has a couple...
Definitely love the soft, supple patina that the Kehoe steerhide develops after years of use. And I've always liked the way Kehoes have zips on the tops of the sleeves. They are definitely under the radar as far as quality for price.
Interesting discussion about Brooks and dating the jacket by the type of label. My Brooks cafe racer was the first one I ever bought, and I've kind of abandoned it in my closet. It's an earlier one with the embroidered gold label, Talon teardrop zips and no zippered lining. Doesn't see much...
