The Green&khaki police uniform was introduced in the 70s to dissociate the police from the greyish-turqoise color inherited from the 3. Reich.
But since some years it is being replaced in almost all German federal states by ¨international¨ dark-blue...
Bavaria is holding on the...
If the color AND weave are very similar or identitical, I call it a suit.
Otherwise it is preferable to go for a contrasting pair of trousers, which is particularly easy to do with solids.
I assume that this is strictly "vintage", right? (Otherwise there is way too much to hate.)
Now talking about 1920-40's (my timeframe) clothing, I have no passionate hatred for any garment, but there are some era-typical items that I personally could never wear:
straw boaters, bowler/derby...
That's my other headache. The pants are hopelessly short. Leaving out the entire cuff yields 110 cm legs. Too short for me. The sleeves can be let out to almost 26 inches inches, so ok for me to wear with solid trousers.
There is a lot of fabric allowance, but my fear would be the original edge leaving a visible line...
a solution would be creating an inside seam to 'swallow' the old line. With the busy fabric it might work.
Yes they are! Fortunately of the softer variety and not just 'bricks'.
Tomasso, as someone who needs 26 inches sleeves, I know this plight. But there are fortunately fitting originals to be found.
A 1935 German summer suit. Single-breasted peak lapel. I adore the shoulders!
Light weight worsted wool and purple-grey silky lining.
Grey with herringbone weave + light grey/white plaid and light blue stripes.
Size is a 38/40 Regular.
I'm undecided whether to extend the sleeves to fit me...
Length is fine. Not too short. The problem is with the low-waisted trousers.
These jackets, particularly in the shorter 1930's pattern, need higher waisted trousers. Give it a try!

Very rare German 1930s tailored sports suit consisting of:
1. Single-breasted jacket with notch lapels, flapped pockets and padded shoulders
2. Waistcoat with...
Though misunderstood today (as so many things) as a "rule", it was mostly a matter of fashion and preference.
It was and is perfectly fine to button the bottom button or button all buttons (say that ten times quick ;)).
It is of course also a matter of the cut of the jacket - or more...
It was a matter of taste and fashion. Sometimes a straighter edge was en vogue, sometimes a more rounded edge.
For example in Germany/Europe during the early 30's a more pronounced curve was fashionable, while from the late 30's and early 40's on a straighter edge was preferred.
