Yes I know. Hats that have a penicl curl brim with a center dent are called homburgs. The reason I posted this is because it shows in magazines, catolags, and advertisments of that time that hats with a pencil curl brim and center dent are a "fedora". -

The felt looks like cashmere as it is very rich and a little longer of a nap. I can see three different shades of greys in it. I will post some pictures of just the hat. -

Won - WWII Army Officer's Cap
Enlisten men had both styles of service caps. The thing that makes it an enlisten mens hat is the smaller US coat of arms in a circle instead of a larger coat of arms in no circle for an officer. -
