Won - WWII Army Officer's Cap

The cap arrived today and is better in reality than it appears in the photos. It was made by the May Company and is missing one of the grommets in the back of the cap. The sweatband is partially unstitched in the front and the liner is partially detatched. Otherwise, the leather and felt are in good shape.

It was listed as:
1940S WWII OFFICERS HAT LEATHER VISOR CAP 7 5/8

Officers' were bigger around the crown and had a band of ribbed wool under it.

Thanks for the information. Actually, that's good news. My Dad was an enlisted man in the USAAF and I've been trying to find a cap that he might have worn. :D

Enlisten men had both styles of service caps. The thing that makes it an enlisten mens hat is the smaller US coat of arms in a circle instead of a larger coat of arms in no circle for an officer.
