as for fabrics: i think it's very hard to get shirt fabrics today that have the quality of shirt fabrics of the teens-50s era. the weight , texture and complexity of woven design is just not there today. that's partly why i revived this thread; to see if any...
Simonc, the problem for me with that fabric is that it looks like classic mattress ticking rather than shirt fabric.

RRL do some nice vintage-looking shirt fabrics, but i haven't seen any in this collar shape with tab so far.

you could order Stifel fabric by the yard from the major catalogues during the teens-40s.
these catalogues usually had a large selection of fabric available for home sewers.

you're probably looking at around £80 - £150 max for a decent 1900 morning suit, going by ebay uk prices, unless it has some exceptional bespoke quality about it and /or prestigious tailor's label.
no, i think it belonged to Lucky Kat who sold it a while ago on ebay.
it's interesting how it has the same features as many early 20s jackets (including the stitched down belt which seems to have largely disappeared by the 30s-40s) but the proportions are so different.
