Victorian morning suit

Do we know if there's a ready market for these?
I've just seen a very nice 3 piece morning suit locally for £35 in apparently vgc.....sadly it looks to be a 38" regular so wouldn't fit me.

Is that a morning suit as in with a tail coat or a frock coat?

is it definitely victorian/edwardian i.e. does it have early labels etc.

If I saw any three piece from that period for that price I would buy it immediately. It least it will be saved from it being ruined by some goth or steam punk!

It's a frock coat...no labels at all that I can find it does have silk covered buttons and IIRC 4 button jacket with a high gorge, v backed high waisted trousers too so I guess Victorian or early Edwardian?

I don't think they are worth much. Safe it if you want but don't expect much profit.
Maybe if it is a good size and perfect condition? Lounge suits from that era go higher though and seem to be a new niche for collectors who are tired of 30s and even twenties already.

The last one I saw was in awful condition and was priced at $400!!!! Over the top price, to be honest.

Whenever I see Victorian stuff it is usually very small, so a size 38 is at least not too small

Wilhelminian (ca. 1880 to 1910s) frock coats are quite frequent on German ebay.
They sell rather cheaply... if it is a good size and condition maybe around 100 Euros.
30 - 50 Euros is not seldom.

you're probably looking at around £80 - £150 max for a decent 1900 morning suit, going by ebay uk prices, unless it has some exceptional bespoke quality about it and /or prestigious tailor's label.

Hmm, I'll take another more detailed look next week if I get chance and IF it's still there, I'd like to save it more than anything and dearly wish it fit me as it would now be in my wardrobe 'just in case'!
