True, true. I went from Detroit to Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale to Atlanta to... well, it's like Mayberry here. ;) In the bigger towns I saw a lot of oddballs.
When I lived in S. Fla., I used to regularly see this certain homeless black guy who pushed his shopping cart around all day wearing a...
THAT'S the shot, Lexy'. :eusa_clap
It shows everything, especially the remarkable detail of the suit. How Matt gets those stripes to line up at the shoulder seam, the surgeon's cuffs, the whole she-bang. Just very, very cool.
Great get-ups, folks!

Today included a 1940 Stetson Eagle, Allen Edmonds Sanfords, and leather sport coat by William Barry. Jacket's very soft lambskin and has an 'action back' bellows in the center and a belt-back too. :)
The button from a trolley cord on a fedora could pop into that hole.
We are kinda' reaching here, though. It is a pretty useless vestige. I'd prefer it as a functional part of a button-up-if-necessary arrangement.
One of mine (medium brown) from around 1940 is nearly in the same condition. I have owned dozens and dozens of vintage fedoras by many makers and this is one of only two with that amount of weakness. The hat is otherwise not that worn looking. I removed the liner and reinforced it from the...
I rarely, rarely see a proper fur felt dress fedora on anyone's head, unless I look in the mirror - - but SOMEbody(s) out there sure buys a lot of them from Ebay and Fedora Loungers can't account for all of it. [huh]
Oh, phooey - it is not. Cookie, you shoe fettishist, you. ;) lol

Thanks for posting the explanation, Dap'. I bought a little kit in the shoe dept. of a store. It has a white eraser and a rough sponge for brushing. Works pretty well. But the baking soda trick is new on me...
Eeeeeeee..... That does make the cheese a little more binding. I have read many posts by others who have had zero trouble with Temples getting wet, in fact some use them as rain hats. I, however, experienced a lot of brim distortion/waviness after my Temple got slightly damp in a light shower...
That's a strange one, zet'. Not sure how I'd handle it. Hard to say without seeing it in person as photos would probably not show what you're dealing with. I think I'd try a good brushing, then spray/mist the hat with water all over until fairly wet, then dab whole hat with towel and allow to...
Inspired by dhermann1's "oldest person" thread, I though I'd kick this one off. {HAVE FUN, BUT BE CAREFUL NOT TO LIBEL.}
I once knew "Mongo, Prince of Zambodia". When I was in Fort Lauderdale in the early '80s, he'd ride up on his cafe racer and visit the people at the jewelry store where I...
lol - I agree!
{By the way, great photo of a floppy hat, CB!}
OK, here are the ones I've owned over the years.:o I still have a couple of them. I guess I'm sentimentally attached. They don't get much, if any, play since I upgraded to fur felt hats a couple years ago or so.
