Ooh! And I forgot this one. A classic British wool plaid tie by 'Old England'. I have a couple of their collars, and a few of their AMAZING cotton bib-fronted tunic shirts that I got from the Viyella factory shop before it closed down. Anyway, it's really my kind of tie!
They always have...
I've posted some over at the 'Tootal' page, but here is one that isn't Tootal. A 'Joxford' (or is it J Oxford?) cravat. Unknown cloth, but 'Crease Resistant' and it has been unfortunately over-pressed at some point.
:)
Jamespowers and John T Sarto - Fantastic ties! You fellows are making me a convert ;) I've got some American ones of my own to show you now. I very rarely come across them.
I really like this one, but it is unfortunately mucky, and I can't seem to get the creases out of it! But anyway, it's a...
Hello folks,
Here's my latest haul.
Three quite late 'Black Quality' ties (pretty thin). One missing a label, but I'd bet money it's a 'Black' like the rest, going on the shape.
I adore that blue one, and its pattern.
A 'Blue Quality' and a 'Red Quality'. The 'Red' is odd though. It states...
Here's what I wore today. Includes a Tootal Cravat. I can only assume the corduroy jacket is 1970s, but luckily it's done in a pretty nice 1940s style, with belt back and pleated patch-pockets and none-too ostentatious lapels. The first time I've worn a cravat out-and-about for about three...
I think a lot of it is down to the newer cloths being lighter-weight, in line with the demands of the 'modern man'. You can most CERTAINLY get quality cloths that are just as good as the vintage ones, it's just that they aren't as common and aren't as in demand as the papery stuff you describe...
I have had this problem - but NOT on older/vintage trousers. As I might have posted on the Lounge before, I have had trouble with the tweeds and flannels from Abraham Moon, where in a matter of a few wears the crotch thins, and in the instance of tweed, eventually wore right through. There were...
Very nice jacket Metatron - the sort I need more of! The jacket I have that's similar just has blue buttons on, a shade darker than the fabric. Tan sounds a nice contrast though!
Yes, I think they do a good job of creating 'costumes' that hold their essence in the post-war years, but aren't necessarily definable.
I suppose 'high-fashion' of the sort that we usually associate with the 1920s and immediate post-war era wouldn't necessarily filter down everywhere very...
Sorry I only saw the first section of your post-
Interesting! It's always always nice to have a local flavour in the ties. Those two club ones are from Nottingham and Macclesfield here in England

Ah right okay. I'd say mine was similar era but it doesn't have that detail. Are there such things as international clubs?
