compensate, to a degree
as mentioned already, the shoulders are what matters, but the coats are measured by chest size. so they give a little room in the shoulders, sleeves, etc., knowing that if you are a 40L, the topcoat that will fit you in the chest, will need enough shoulder to fit over a...
I wear a 40L or 42R suit; I have two "designer" wool topcoats, one's a 40L and the other's a 42R and they fit perfectly over a suit coat. Why not run into any dept. store and just try for fit. If you're unsure you can try a raglan as well.
pics of windflap with snaps
This vintage HH has three, top, middle, bottom. I usually zip it and snap the bottom two. But I always like the windflap over zipper design. I like the small pocket snaps too.

I like snap windflaps, actually have an early 60s horsehide field coat that is what you describe (snap wind-flap over zipper). It has one at the collar. One in the middle and two at the bottom. Don't know if you need more--if you use the zipper. By the way, in the world of Aero (and maybe...
Not seen the Aero, but have tried on the Langlitz, which makes a Cascade in goat (I suppose they will make anything in it, from flight jackets to motos), sometimes w/piping, that is as good as it gets. Priced a tad higher than their regular Cascade.
1/4 ton of books from amazon and an alpaca-lined denim duster, which I like a lot, but when worn here probably leads others to believe they wandered into the circus.
ps- Russet brown used to be my favored 'shade' of A-2 jacket, lately I've begun to prefer the seal brown color, I'd think Havana Brown would be somewhere in the middle.
I love this shot. I think I need to put it on film.
Many, too many, happily so, and too true to wonder anymore:
Vintage Avirex seal A2
Leather Shop A2
Casa Lopez Capybara
Vintage Italian police black leather DB belted trench, wool lined
Canali wool overocat
Valentino cashmere DB overcoat (1983, still incredible)
Aero HH flight jacket w/mouton...
First off, have you gone through your wardrobe looking for the little larvae? They are visible, you should check all your wool (under lapels, inside pockets, etc), especially if you see moths flitting about here and there (check the web and you can see what they look like). I once lived above a...
Ha! Exactly. I want to say: when in India I do what the Indians do...but perhaps a Philadelphian doing business with a New Yorker has its own rituals, customs, and sign language.
It's not a winter coat, but I do have one that's big on me I wear over layers. The LW one I have is a bit thicker than others.
My experience with LW was first rate in every way. Very direct, which I like. Completely professional. He makes a Downtown version in deer, it's on their site; you...
It weathers fine...rain gets it wet, it survives, just like cow or goat, etc. It's a pricey hide--yet you can't let that deter you from wearing it anywhere/anytime. LW does make custom deerskin, I have one, it's worth it. Also 800Branded makes them. Uber. Keep in mind: this is not a warm...
Very supple, very durable. The skins are tough, cause deer run through the woods, etc. I have a newer one I wear all the time for work (I work outdoors) 'cause you can't beat it for range of motion and durability. It's dark brown. If you buy new, they are expensive, the deer are farmed I think...
1982. A Korean-made black Mirage flight/cycle, quilted lining and great thick stand-up collar, with a hood zipped inside. I loved that thick stand-up collar and used the hood in rain and crummy weather. The next year I made some decent money, and was walking past the same store, and they were...
