I did this to a jacket some years ago and it worked great. Only thing was--the jacket had a synthetic lining, so that doesn't shrink. The lining therefore was a bit baggy in spots--still better that way than the whole thing being fall-off-my-shoulders big.
One more thing. Even (especially) the high-end luxury brands, who have opened all the branded stores in the malls so that the you can perceive that you are getting an "authentic" version, differ. The work is often sourced from multiple places (some like Bottega, are vertically integrated, but...
Store and web are often different, as are many outlets. In fact, many carry disclaimers. On some sales, they even say "same as in stores" on others in fine print "store model may vary" etc. At Polo outlets there is fine print describing this. Some of the big retailers simply front for large...
I have several...RL makes a really nice one, heavy, from their Canadian licensee, I believe it's the "Lauren" line, often on sale. Territory Ahead used to have some more "beat" unstructured ones with lots of pockets at their outlets. Orvis used to have a heavy one like Lauren, but more vintage...
There are two thoughts to this....one is that the jacket "corners" the shoulder. That is, the seam is atop the shoulder. That way, the end of the shoulder, which extends, in muscle mass etc., beyond that becomes part of the sleeve, therefore raising it a bit. The other is that the seam goes to...
I think an inch higher than that. I have a jacket similar length/style and it works pretty well centered about 2 to 2.5 inches from the hem....I never notice it and it just functions.
Inauthentic as it may be, I had a jacket once that had the cinches inside, just above the hips. I thought that was a great solution. Jacket fit better, less hardware hanging around outside, and the cinch could be made of anything that really held because it was invisible so to speak. There was a...
To answer my own question about oil-pulls in the rain....no problem. I'm in Washington State on the Pugent Sound for a week and the weather can be nasty here, so I was debating which jacket to take, a heavy deerskin I like and takes battering pretty well, a heavy wool-lined denim, or an older...
Do the oil pull hides, I'm thinking particularly of steer oil pull, resist/endure rain any better than regular steer? How about the HH oil pull vs. other HH w/rain?
Santoni. Not cheap but worth it.

I don't have either of these, but I have an older pair of chukkas from them and they have held up beautifully.
For anyone in the Philadelphia area, the Museum of Art has an exhibit on tailoring/suits featuring the work of a tailor who created all the looks for Daroff over the years. Short and sweet if you're in the area.

While you're there, also have a...
Decades ago when they focused on keeping inflation down and started with the Consumer Price Index, quality was left out of the equation. I found that laughable. The price might have been seemingly low for a comparable product or service---but if you wanted someone who knew what they were doing...
As to Boyds--that is a nice jacket, Fedoralover! In Philadelphia, there's a high-end men's store, Boyds, which is unrelated but always has some interesting fashion jackets.
There's always BOYDS, some nice jackets there. Nordstrom's at KoP has a few pricey designer things. But you are right. Huge metro area, slim, if any, pickings.
