The "put it back where he got it" is great. Usually I find the stuff buried in the trunk or smashed into a sofa cushion in the TV room. I will say this: with all the sport coats, shirts, etc., hanging around, my oldest--22--has an incredible knack to walk off with the best. At least he's got taste.
Beaters.
I've had plenty of cheapies and throw-arounds over 30 years. A new 1980s Cooper with removable lining, looked good but didn't take beatings real well, and the leather tore and wore through in a couple spots (lot of outdoor work). 2 new Avirex's (1980s), 1 goat a2, 1 a black nubuck...
I've had one for years, didn't even know what it was (long before I knew there were names/type to any jackets). It's distressed cow--soft, easy on-and-off--and fits over sweaters/sweatshirts, etc., a bit more roomy than others. It's cut simple---I think it's US Wings, would have to check--no...
Hi Aaron, I have a Challenger 2 (which I am going to sell one day, I don't wear it enough)--different jacket altogether, but I am your size and I have it in a 46--which fits me best, although I could have done a snug (and perhaps better for riding 44), but the 46 allows for armor, etc., if I go...
Arrive today. Fits perfectly. This one is staying put for a long time (until one of my kids lifts it, no doubt). Thanks to whoever broke it in a bit before Aaron. Will toss the sport coat in the back seat and wear it home.
Thanks Aaron!
I think that;s right (size). I usually wear over a light sweatshirt, anything more would be tight (not to mention of the rotator cuff drama of actually shrugging it on over it without pulling something--at my age). It's a comfortable jacket, once on. Doesn't feel bulky or as heavy as it is.
I had an oilskin duster of the "cliche" type mentioned in the thread. I liked it, especially in snow, and for working. Even though it wasn't lined, it was warm, and I could work in below freezing with it on and just a sweater. Eventually it tore, and I don't know what happened to it (kids...?)...
Buttons to attach, one button at the cuffs, sometimes pulls a bit when taking off mine, which is a very heavy Bomber-type w/perf zip inside, and vented. But the jacket is great, balances well, weightwise. I also have a Vanson which fits much tighter (as a 46 vs. FC's 44), more lean and mean and...
