Stetson Twenty (I think?)
I think this hat may be a factory refurb
Can't quite make it out, inside tag has no info other than size
Stars and leaf logos inside
Is it a Stetson Sovereign Twenty Open Road? I have my doubts. Maybe it's an early Open Road that got refurbed in the fifty's? And...
Glad it worked out.
They get shipments of new hats a couple times a year, if I recall correctly March or April is one of those times so a good time to find the model, color and size you want.
Not waiting anymore
Stetson Twenty
I'm thinking it's a factory refurb, can't make out what it says exactly but that's my guess.
Perfect clay-like moldability. Suede like finish. Not sure if this is the final crease, doesn't matter cause it'll take and hold pretty much any shape.
Thanks guys, I think I'm going to live with them for a while as is. I'll revisit them in a month or two with "fresh eyes" and maybe make adjustments then.
It's great the celebrity exposure his hat's get. I like the hats on his website. There is some great work there. Great color combos, styles and creases. Perhaps his website should put a little less emphasis on the pre-distressed look. I can see how some might get the impression this is the...
It's thinner and denser and takes a crease better than the new Stetson's. More like my vintage hats. It is not pounced as well, though. If you could get the Stetson finish and sweatband on a Borsalino felt you'd have something.
As good a chance as you're likely to get they'll have something you want in the size and color you want and the best price. I hadn't realized they'd gone up to $290. Last one I bought from them was $250. i think they're still the cheapest around. Are they worth it? many here say no. For you to...
It's a full 6 inches. Brim is 2 5/8. Similar dimensions to my vintage Stratoliner. The vintage Strat is nicer but it's hard to round them up in exactly the color you want when you're a 7 1/2 like me. This'll do in a pinch.
I have the taupe as well. I may yet get the medium grey version as well. It looked really nice but I'm holding out on finding a vintage Stratoliner in a medium grey. Patience, patience.
+1 I haven't been hunting in about 2 decades so, no. If I still did or returned to it at some point, maybe. I'd probably just wear a dark brown or dark grey or maybe a Bluegrass Green Camp Draft or..........ah still no.
I've only gone to the 236 Broadway location. Take the J or M subway to Brooklyn. First stop Marcy Ave. Just down the next block. As I said before, better prices than JJ depending on what you're looking for. He isn't stocking any of the open crown Stetson's yet. They were making shelf space for...
Another great day in hats, Gentlemen!
Borsalino Alessandria in a light grey (looks kind of baby blue in these pics) picked it up from Bencraft today. Nice full straight crown it was fun to crease a hat and not be fighting the old crease of many vintage hats I've gotten lately
Thought I'd share this here as Borsalino's were mentioned. I had my first free day in a while so went here;
Bencraft.
Talked to Besdor a little. He didn't want to sell me any of his vintage Borso shipping boxes but I did get this;
Borsalino Alessandria in a light blueish grey.
I asked to see...
My attempt at g.durand's modified cattleman on Akubra Camp Draft and Bushman. Looking at these now I think I'm going to adjust the Bushman, it's too far forward. The Silverbelly Camp Draft I'm happy with.
p.s. On an unrelated subject somebody, I think it was gtdean48 mentioned doing some...
I was there a few months ago. Last year when I was there with my new Premiere Stratoliner from DelMonico's they didn't seem all that interested. Now they've changed the sign and sell lots of open crown Stetsons. They still have some Borsalinos but not like they used to.
