At the Dog Track... The Whippets

Glad you had me look! The price tag was on the back of the size tag! The number on the back of the sweat is the only other thing inside. $10.95

At the Dog Track... The Whippets

50's Whippet (I'm guessing) 2 1/2 brim, 5 5/8 crown No tags under the sweat, maybe this hat had a serious rehab at some point? Came in a cool box but I'm not sure it's original to the hat as box has stars in logo and hat has leafs everywhere

    Question about hat style.

I'd wear thin ribbon Open Road style hats with just about anything. Jeans and t-shirts are just fine.

Very cool! Any speculation as to the purpose of doubling the felt in the crown?

Thanks. It's actually a warm grey or a light brown. Hard to describe exactly and even harder to capture in a photo. You know how some of these old felts are.

Art Fawcett is making me a hat!

I agree with tropicalbob that the mirror is best for deciding what looks best. A trip to a hat shop could be helpful if you haven't already, try on several styles. Keep in mind your tastes may change with time as well. Many go bigger with their brims as they get more comfortable wearing fedoras...

    Baseball... in another era

I'm afraid most of them are at the lower levels of landfill/garbage dumps. Simply tossed out when a new style was acquired or worn out.

Art Fawcett is making me a hat!

The chances of you ending up with more than one are good so maybe plan a lighter warm weather hat and a darker winter one.

Who runs the show at Hats Directs.com?

I've long since deleted my emails with them but I can tell you they have great communication via email and will try to get you what you want. Sometimes they are limited by what's in stock.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Recently saw a common misconception from a non hat person seller. "The inside of the hat measures 7 1/2 from front to back so this is a size 7 1/2". Not!

Great Friday for hats! Everyone looks so good! Happy surprise in the mail today Lee Trinity from Miamibruno Slightly modified the crease, a little steam and clean and I'm good to go. I've been looking for some lighter colors for warm weather. Fits the bill perfectly
