I liked this thread a lot better before I found out I was one of the unlucky ones. Much more fun to read when you're not in limbo waiting to hear what will be done to remedy the situation, or how much it will cost. I suppose I understand Aero's wish to address the re-makes after their busy...
To answer two questions regarding my Long Half Belt a few pages back, I ordered it from Mark Moye in early June of 2011, received it some time in Feb., 2012. It is cotton drill lined, regarding the weight issue question. Any more specific answers needed, please PM me so I don't clutter this...
They didn't say and I didn't ask, although I wondered about that also. With the time difference and work schedules, it's email only, and about a day's lag time in communications. I'm waiting for Holly's next message regarding how we work the return/exchange. Frank
A few more, hope they help. Some are better lit than others. Keep in mind, other than a few wishful hours in front of the TV in air conditioning, this thing only got worn outside twice, for a total of 1 hour, so any broken-in look happened a lot sooner than I would have expected with...
Certainly, if it helps at all. I'm no great photography wiz. I'll post a few times, as I sent Holly lots of pix of different areas of the jacket.
Label, front and back first:
collar/shoulder shots, both sides:
Got my reply from Holly today. My LHB labeled FQHH is steerhide. I'm not unfamiliar with either hide, as I spent many years making leather goods such as chaps, saddlebags and tooled leather gear. Once it's tanned, dyed and stitched together, pretty hard to tell the difference, but I always...
For some of us, I would imagine we keep coming back to this thread because we haven't heard back from Aero, so this is our only source of information on how this situation is developing. Until I hear from Holly, this thread is the only update I'm getting, so I check in often. Frank.
I've got a quick question while I'm waiting for a reply from Holly. Not to stir this already stormy pot, but has anyone from the U.S. had their jacket confirmed as steer instead of horse? I've seen several U.K. and other "across the pond" customers commenting that they will be getting their...
Scottyrocks - I clicked on the "use the old Photobucket" link and went back to the old setup, which I found much simpler. Look towards the top of the page. Frank.
It's a bummer for sure. I've got emails in to Holly right now as well. My LHB weighs in at a whopping 10 lbs., but then again, it's a 52, with some extra length at the bottom. The weight is my least concern, as the parts that are breaking in after very little wear don't match up with...
This thread is killing my turkey high. I've got a Mark Moye LHB that is suspiciously heavy (it would crush a small child) and has many similarities to the steerhide grain photos. I guess I'll spend Black Friday taking photos outside and emailing Scotland. I do applaud the folks at Aero for...
I believe the second pair pictured is the model 939, which is a six eyelet, padded collar version of their classic 1460 boot, in "Aztec Crazy Horse" leather. I haven't been able to find the Wallace in the next size up, or I'd buy another pair in a heartbeat. These are comfortable boots with no...
Jeff - I've got a 7 7/8 normally, but have found a few 8's that fit over the years, so I feel your pain being outside the mainstream of hat sizes. I love the stingy brims, but on such a large melon, I find everything under 2 3/4" in brim ends up making me look like the old cartoon character...
Worf - for someone who buys both pair, I'd go $100, shipping included. Separate might be a bit more. They are not listed as "wide," but I normally wear wider shoes like Keens, and these are comfortable on me, just a bit short. You should PM me if you have any interest in another leather jacket...
Here's a few shots of the boots and the nearly unused soles. Both could use a dusting, I live in the desert, but neither pair has had over an hour or so of use. Thanks, Frank.
Gone to eBay.
I've got two pairs of Martens that are both size UK 13, US 14, both with very little wear. One is the Wallace style, cap toe, and the other is closer to the classic 1460. Both are brown. I wear a 14 in US sizes, and these are both a bit short on me, so I would estimate them...
Good stuff, Worf, and I can sympathize. I'm no smaller than you, but in Southern California, "bad looks" can go to a hail of bullets in a hurry, so I try to be discreet. I find that gawking at fellas wearing hats is usually safer, as we're all used to getting stared at when we wear those. Frank
