Before I gave up on FQHH, an Aero Highwayman, for the same reason I got caught in a downpour. And kept it on all day and night. That helped. Then I stumbled upon even a better thing. I had an old alpaca poncho and one cold day I put that over it. It softened a lot. I realized it's the heat on...
I think that is the link to the final objects that will remain of the last bit of human civilization in action, when all human resources of perspective energy intelligence and aesthetics had finally run out of gas shortly before actual real resource scarcity set in, the world fell in on itself...
Taking note of some your particulars...custom fit, grain, etc (my vicenza, brown, shows a lot of grain but each hide is different I suppose) why don't you see if Johnson will make you a custom one in Buffalo. Buffalo shows a lot of grain right out of the box, is pliable, etc. I also think...

That is great to hear. I love that jacket and am glad it has a home. Stay tuned for more....measuring and picture taking this weekend, 'cause what else is there to do while SB is on?
Had a question from member, via ebay, about the the HH jacket, and thought I'd post more about it here as well:
The snaps are good. They are small studs. The leather overall is weathered, but intact and still with a good finish in most spots. I lightly cleaned it and oiled it when I first got it...
I will putting a number of things on ebay and also here over the next month.
First batch is up and includes:
a superb vintage 1940s Horsehide jacket, a new IH blanket-lined Riders, some japanese made shirts and jeans, and other items.

I have 2 LW Ryders that meet this. Much like the suburban. One is black steer, one is brown horse. Very little wear on each. Both very clean. The black has a small pinhole on the collar, and is a tad larger. I can measure and photo both if you are interested.
62F give or take. Warmer than that I wear a denim or canvas jacket, if I'm going to wear one. Or just heavy shirt over a t-shirt.
I don't often wear anything leather, let alone an A2 in the mid-60s. Just the knits at the waist and cuffs alone make it too warm for me. Although I have light...
Sloan, thank you. I think you've got a book in this. Beyond the reportage: the personal and lifelong sides of some of the main "characters." There's the family biz and all those dynamics, KC's unique business and personality, before WL becomes the next generation, then the long relationship btw...
You don't have enough stuff to wear already that you can't wait? I got 2 things....took awhile. But not only were they an amazing value: they were both things you cannot even find anywhere, such as a 13oz Candiani denim shirt and so on. As far as fit, my 1 Gustin pair was a flop in all ways...
I love the goat cascade. Awesome choice. Looks great. I had a steer for years, and sold it thinking I would buy their goat next time I went to Portland. Maybe I no longer have to wait.....yum yum
I've kept one for about 8 years. I have work ones that go back to 1991. Once every few years I come across them and open to random pages. Amazing how it collapses time. No value in those but I can't throw them out for some reason. The personal ones on the other hand I use. I have mostly ideas...
It is gorgeous. Thanks to Thurston who i suppose did the specs, and from whom I bought it on ebay last year. I almost took the plunge but I've learned--the hard way--that if I can't toss it on and off easily it winds up in the closet. I'm a bit on the 42+ not quite 44 side. It will fit a slimmer...
I have this up on ebay. Mint, never worn. Debated for some time whether to give it a go or let it go. Just a tad snug on me, and opting out. Hope someone here would enjoy it.
