As far as goat goes, I don't know thedi, but I have goat from aero, lost worlds, simmons, and Johnson and whatever Johnson is using I like best for drape, feel, texture, weight (lighter but still substantial) and so on.
Less slippage in Chelsea than engineer. The instep of engineers typically to allow entry also causes some heel slip. No big deal because they are not purpised for a lot of walking. Chelseas in my experience fit better for walking. A bit of slip but less than engineers.
I am at the point in life where I sometimes reread by accident. And The Last Gentleman was one of those. Somewhere around page 93 I was having this dreamy sense of dislocation. And it wasn't until the end that I realized I read it years, maybe decades before. Which brings me to why reread...
Invisible Man, Ellison.

All re reads, or re re reads in the last decade. All hold up.
Islands in the Stream. The only one that matters now. Even if, or especially because, it was unedited and unrevised for publication. The one book he really believed in, and for good reason. They threw it back at him, and then he leaves the planet.
Custom. My kids live in the area and when I visit I stop in every so often. This was some years ago. I liked the buffalo hide they had and thought because it was both heavy and pliable it might be good for a type 3. They have some sample jackets there and a whole bunch of different leathers...
Johnson. I know some of you will find this an inch long for a Type 3, but I asked for it. When the jacket is this substantial I don't like it too short. I can still snap this and cover my belt. I have an Aero that is mid-horse and nice too, shorter. But I can't wear it closed, only open, which...
I have a Johnson type 3 snap in buffalo. From years ago. Nice heavy hide. But the fit and details are even better. You can't go wrong there, especially if you go there.
This will sound crazy for Socal. But works in colder climates. I have an alpaca poncho. I wear it over the jacket. And I do a lot of outdoor work. Will break in less than 10 wears. It is the body heat that breaks it best. Like if you slept in it, inside out. Something I have never done, but a...
With cuffs buttoned can you easily put the jacket on? Or do you have to button and un-button? I have a Johnson with tight cuffs but it has snaps so that's easy.
As nice as that MF leather Kingsman jacket is, at that length it is a non-starter. The 44, which would fit in every way a typical 44, is only 24.5 in the rear. Wearing those sort of above the belt short jackets, especially in a substantial leather, unless you're built like I Dream of Jeannie or...
And then there's the ones that finance the others. A vintage 40s HH in great shape I came across cheap. Loved. But couldn't pass up quadruple the money. A nice Langlitz Cascade--great--but I wasn't going to ride, and it seemed too much jacket otherwise and I sold for double. Not to mention all...
There's stuff you love the IDEA of wearing. And when you actually put it on, you say to yourself, that's right this is a great/cool/good-looking/useful jacket--pick your adjective. But then you forget about it, or don't wear again the next day or for months. For me, Lost Worlds jackets are like...
