I have a Lost Worlds Downtown, black goat...substantial and very grainy. Great jacket. I also tried on a Langlitz goat Cascade in the store. Also fantastic...very pliable as someone mentioned. Would love an Aero goat--one of these days--but for now the LW has a long way to go...tough in all weather.
I have to chime in and say this is the first time I have read a thread start to finish I think. My respect for the company has now grown beyond the respect for the product. It's easy to read btw the lines, hard for any business owner to communicate to customers what it really takes to make an...
I've hd a longshoreman/sheepskin and a couple aero halfbelt types with alpaca. The alpaca is warmer than the tartan. Neither is close to the sheepskin. While the longshoreman/sheepskin could be your warmest jacket, the alapaca lined halfbelt will not be...you need something more for anything...
I am not a fan of MC jackets either but do love my Langlitz Cascade. The thing is that it is understated, no gewgaws. And also available in the more flexible (and amazing) goat, and you can buy it a bit longer, as I did. The asymetrical windflap is great in bad weather, and even wearing the...
Of course, the reaction from women could mean: Look at this poor guy, I should say something nice.
I'm glad to hear all the reaction...I think something must be said for Aero's Highwayman style itself--not just the color. It's a timeless design.
My thoughts on the color...
It is truly cherry, as in go to the supermarket and look at a bag of cherries....all the variegated color from deep to light red.
I love the jacket. It has gotten a bit darker overall with wear the last couple years from when I bought it (secondhand).
And one...
Re Griff's remarks below:
Yep. I bought it, have it, wear it often in the winter. It's heavy FQHH. Wear points are darker in places. I'll try to get some pics up in the next few days.
That's a great line-up below. Coldest I've filmed is about 10F degrees. But frequently shoot in the 20s. I wear high-end thermal underwear. Then, traditional long underwear, then flannel lined pants. I have heavy large gore-tex lined boots (Chippewa), which can take 2 pair of heavy socks. Up top...
Gaslight
Never hid them, but then haven't been married for years. Instead, I lie. Someone says, "Hey is that ANOTHER leather jacket you got?" And I say, nonchalantly, "This one? Nah, I've had it for years, just haven't worn it in awhile."
To most other people, there's just 4 kinds, so after...
I have a shortened Downtown in black goat and a Rigger in brown deerskin....both the goat and the deer hides are better than others I've owned, and the jackets fit well and are well made. Worth it.
I have an Orchard midweight HH A-2 bought from Orchard, as an acknowledged "2nd" via ebay around 2009, and have always liked it a lot. Some of the stitching is errant and it is not "finished" and "detailed" like the higher end A-2s that are often discussed here, but the hide is nice, it's a...
I have an oil pull steerhide Aero Route 66, alpaca lined and like it a lot. I think because the oil pull is more flexible the alpaca lining works better than in the FQHH where it does not help the bulk/movement restriction.
As for warmth, I feel the alpaca is only warmer than than the tartans...
Hi Luke, you can try Schaeffer Outfitters (discounted at some sites like Drysdales better than the Schaeffer site)...the regular ones, not the cowboy ones....higher rise...straight. 15oz. i like mine. I had to size down one. normally i would be 34/34....for these I am wearing 33/32 and they fit...
1983. An impulse buy. Clearance mark-down in a leather jacket store I wandered into in a small town near a bed-and-breakfast my wife and I went to one weekend. Marked down and further slashed to $69. Guy saw me looking at it, and offered it to me for 50.
A Mirage bomber with a quilted satin...
