    Public Enemies

Tiller, I enjoyed this film alot too and will see it again on the big screen to catch what I missed the first time. I wasn't expecting to be educated about Dillinger or his gang and the so-called mumbling didn't bother me at all. I also liked the look of the film and will own it when possible...

WHO made Johnny Depps hats for Public Enemies

I have always liked Ebert's reviews - he hits the nail on the head for me every time. "A very good but not great film" and then puzzlement as to why is what I'm feeling as well. I'm going to have to see it again. John

    Show us your Guns!

If you enjoy seeing vintage firearms used in anger then this is the movie for you. Thompsons, BARs, 1911s along with Rem. model 8s and 351 Winchesters (got to look fast for these). As with all Mann films the shootouts are well done and everybody looks like they have handled firearms before...

WHO made Johnny Depps hats for Public Enemies

Saw the movie yesterday at the first show - 1:20 pm - since I'm on vacation and most people have to work for a living the theater was only about 1/4 full. I thought the movie was very good and my wife and daughter enjoyed the love story. Just enough action to keep things interesting and as...

Me neither - I would think a Win. 07 with German proofs would be pretty rare. On the other hand older military rifles are always interesting. John

What Did You Drink Last Night?

12 year old Glenlivet that had been languishing in my parents liquor cabinet for at least 30 years. So does that make it a 42-year old Glenlivet? Whatever the age, it was smoooooth. I paired this up with a churchill ring Padron 1964 Anniversario cigar. Very relaxing. John

    Vintage Money Clip

I appreciate the replies and info. about my Whiting-made clip. That World's Fair clip is a beaut! Too bad someone sneaked in there at the end. It's weird there aren't more vintage money clips being used out there. John

Deacon, I haven't shot it yet - hopefully this weekend. I have accumulated 350 rounds of .351 ammo but some of it is collectable so it's more like 200 rounds that I'll use. As far as reloading, I plan to and I found an RCBS die set and a shell holder that works but I need to find a bullet...

    Show us your Guns!

I had been looking for a 1907 Win. for some time. The reason I bought this one was the overall condition and especially because of the wood. It's almost deluxe grade wood. Unfortunately, the Winchester records at the Cody Museum only go up to 9999 for this model so I can't check if it was...

    Vintage Money Clip

I did a search and quite a few members carry money clips but I'm interested in finding out more info. about an old one I just acquired. It's an art deco style sterling silver clip made by Frank M. Whiting silversmiths. I did some snooping and found out that Whiting ceased to exist as a company...

Ok, how about this one with an old hip flask, a circa 1930s Frank M. Whiting marked sterling silver money clip (still working on the old $100), the circa 1920s Colt New Service with fleur-de-lis grips and the 351 Win.?

I appreciate the kind words! The 1907 Winchester .351 cal. rifle was made in 1913. And the 1911 is a Norinco as it is the only "old-style" 1911 that I own. What I really need to go in this photo is a 1930s-era Colt 38 super. However, the wife won't left me sell her car to get one. John

new old 1907 Winny My feeble ode to the gangster era with my new 351 cal. Winchester rifle, 3 original 10-round mags and other accoutrements. Look for one of these in the upcoming Johnny Depp movie "Public Enemies." [/IMG] Thanks for looking. John

Beautiful S&W! I have a couple of the 19th century Smiths but none of the early 20th century ones. I may have to correct that gap in my collection. John

Dating Vintage Stetsons by Liner: A Field Guide

What are the dates for Stetsons with the clear (now yellow) cover over the middle/center of the liner? I can post a photo if needed. Thanks! John

My latest: a circa 1923 Colt New Service with a 4 1/2 inch barrel in 38-40 (38 wcf) caliber shown with an older Remington pump rifle of the same caliber and a slightly newer Stetson Imperial.
