    What are you wearing today??

Freaked them out at work today - you got to do that now and again to keep the co-workers on their toes. My way of noting Pretty Boy Floyd's death - a few days early.

Gray & white herringbone coat with dark brown pants?

I couldn't get the Herringbone with brown pants to work so I tried to get something like the advertisements - dark brown sportcoat with dove-gray pants. It's not bad but still needs some tweaking. Wore this outfit for Pretty Boy Floyd Day at work - I was the only one to observe his death...

    Dumb tobacco humidor question

Got out my uncle's humidor - it's not anything expensive and I like it's simplicity. Is the small round "stone" at the top interior part of the lid for humidity? If so. then I'm assuming you wet this? Do you take it off to be wetted or do you wet it in place? Will regular water be ok...

What Did You Drink Last Night?

I ordered a Tom Collins last night and the 20-something bartender looked at me twice then repeated the order like maybe I had made a mistake. Has it really come to this that bartenders don't immediately know what a Tom Collins is anymore? He made a pretty good one but I swear he went down the...

Geronimo - thanks, I completely forgot about "The Awful Truth" - terrific comedy - Irene Dunne was a perfect match to Cary in that movie. And it reminded me of one of my all time favorites - Bringing Up Baby." So many terrific scenes: - In the golf course paking lot with Kate Hepburn taking...

Silk or Not - how do you determine?

I've got several ties that are unmarked as to the material of which they are made. I've compared them to my two silk ties and they aren't as smooth but they are close. So how does one determine if something is silk if it isn't marked? Thanks for the help. John

Out of the Humidor: The sad demise of pipe smoking

Thanks to this post, I've taken my pipes out of the drawer and I'm going to start smoking a pipe again. Quite frankly, I don't know why I stopped - no health problems or orders from either the Dr. or the wife. Here's my small collection of old Dunhills, Sasienis, Comoy Blue Riband, 1920s...

    Funniest scenes in cinema history

The Thin Man movies crack me up - so many great comic scenes. For example, Nicky are you asleep. Yes. Good, because I want to talk to you. Nicky there's a man here to see you. (From under the covers of his bed and after Nora woke him up earlier after a long night) Good, for a minute...
