A bit cool here today w/ not much sunshine so I'm wearing a L.C. King, Landon barn coat over a Lee Valley Ireland, Flannel Grandfather's shirt w/ a Filson Charcoal grey wool vest in between. Bayside ball cap in wheat on top. Very comfortable wear w/ mid-20F temps.
I've had a couple Filson's and did not feel they were worth the money. I went to a Allett ID w/ RFID and I'm 99% happy. Takes a while to adjust to a non-bulky, lighter wallet although like it and it's showing minimal wear after a year.
My deep winter wear received a good airing out this week, we were at -39 F with chill index and -11 to-13 F, actual temps. What did I discover this week? I love Alpaca socks, Flannel lined jeans, 25 year old USA made, Carhartt Artic wear and Irish Merino sweaters!:).
Yep, it's been couple years. I did make CC purchase last year although sent it back. I also dropped
20lbs and was able to sub another coat for layering in place until I found something more appropriate.
I guess I'm a little picky, coat had to be, right length, cut for layering, sleeves lined...
Garry,
I'm 5'11-1/2" tall, 185lbs, 45" chest, 34" waist. 33" sleeve. Compared LCK's online measurements to my other coats and ordered a "Large". As mentioned I wanted something long enough to cover a wool vest or sweater and loose enough to layer with. The large would be too large for me if I...
What is the advantage to the Filson insert? I've tried the IR's although they're much too wide for my foot. It's next to impossible to find a well fitting, well made, USA work or dress boot in a 10.5N....:(

As a conclusion to the thread, I ordered a L.C. King "Landon" Barn coat, received it and I'm very pleased. It's USA made, fits perfect for what I wanted which is fall & winter layering, long enough to fit over a T & sweater or a T shirt, long sleeve shirt, and wool vest. It was 13 degrees...
My son was married in one, tartan was closest he could find to the family specification. He also
wears a "Work" kilt, kind of a HD canvas item in solid dark tan.
Are the Aero items typically cut large for their numerical size? Or was this jacket altered/ordered with alternate dimensions? I've been thinking of pulling the switch on a Teamster or Maxwell and want to get a good fit off the bat.
While I'm sure you're correct, I'm partially color blind & can't really tell the difference:). That said, it's also available in Navy(or is that black:), albeit at a bit higher price.
SM Wholesale's N1 is the closest to original design and best bang for the buck I've seen. https://www.smwholesaleusa.com/
That said, I tried to order one and the communications were less than expected, I was unable to pull off the deal and walked away. Perhaps you'll be able to do so. Nice...
For sale are (3) "L.L. Bean" Long sleeve shirts, size is XL/Regular in a traditional fit. I received these (1) year ago as a present, had dropped some weight and they didn't fit. I've lost more weight and they're just sitting in the closet. (2) of the shirts were washed and ironed although never...
