Wearing the beaver pelts for a whole season not only aged them with time and constant movement; more important was the body sweat from the wearer, which cured the fur before further process. Hi, I just won an eBay auction for a Stetson Excellent, made in Germany, sold in Italy. It looks very beat up (as if somebody sat on it), but otherwise not used much.
