Yard working this last weekend. My 17 year old French pith helmet. Original sweat band disintegrated a few years ago so had to make my own replacement. Been thinking of spray painting it and graffitiing it up. 1950’s style. Or going cheesy with a Jurassic park logo.
Sunny +30 Celsius on the First of May?!? That never happens. My Akubra Coolabah.
I have been asked from time to time how I keep my hats so nice. This one is about 10-12 years old. It’s because I have some hard use headwear. This is my “I am going to sweat” headwear I wore yesterday cleaning...
Just like yours, my Vietnam made pith helmets clips have shattered and the sweat bands have disintegrated over the years. By years I mean the last 17 years. I have made my own replacement sweat bands over the years to keep them going but have always been tempted to buy new pith helmets to...
I got my Wolseley from https://www.villagehatshop.com/category/84/1/pith-helmets.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwrJ-hBhB7EiwAuyBVXdr1Qco2nNfQ_XNhoIQfkZufMic07xD4u3FSX9C4HqSgL1qAuNJLBRoCmbkQAvD_BwE
It going to get up to a balmy 44F today. With the sun shining should melt some more snow. Maybe get the...
Not sure where you will wear it? Odd question. Chill in the yard having a beer would be the top of my list.
Looks great. Have fun wearing it.
Now that’s it’s all fancy, you need a second “working pith for yard work. ;)

Looks like a reputable hat shop. Nice looking hat. Very Jack Lemmon in “Good neighbour Sam”, mid 60’s look. Great discount from retail pricing as well. I cant see how you can loose. It is a modern Stetson so I don’t know the quality of the felt. I have one from the late 90’s that’s needs a hit...
Brand new Tilley Montana. Second one this season. This time in a navy blue. Made of wool with ear flaps. Got one earlier this winter in black as I found one at a great price at Winners (TJX for my USA friends) but this last weekend the remainder went on clearance. So now I have a few more to...
I have seen pugs put on all sorts of Akubras. The territory and cattleman look really good but you can put a pug on any hat. I have even seen them put on old army campaign hats.

Loaded question. Most people view 2.5” brim to be a standard fedora brim and a 3” and up to be a western. Then you have an Open Road that is both City and country.
As for your Stetsonian feeling big. That’s a new hat wearing feeling. I felt my Akubra Federation to me massive until I got used to...
My first federation back in 2001 had a red liner. Didn’t show the grime neatly as quickly. My second is a Federation III Deluxe from 2005 ish and the same as yours. Grimy white liner and About due for a new one. They are great hats and last a good amount of time.
