That time of year again. Yard cleanup day/weekend. VillageHatShop big head French model from 18 years ago. Still thinking of a modern plastic USMC/postal carrier helmet to graffiti up like the old advertisement helmets from the 40’s-60’s.
Great looking hat, suits you sir. I find your statement funny. My Akubra Federation has been my foul weather hat for 18 years. Trust me, not only can it take it, the rain makes it look better.

18 years old. Still holding up great. Akubra “Down Under”
Got it custom made in black. Same make and model they used for Paul Hogan in “Crocodile Dundee”

Nice! I have a campaign hat in need of a band. May need to see how much to get one shipped across the 49th.
All these years and I never know you were a scout. Hello brother from the Northern Lights Region.

That’s a great hat. Looks better on the head than it did on the hat stand in the first post. Reminds me of my Art Fawcett “Crossover” with larger proportions. Definite shade maker!
Looking good. Wear it in good health.

Just seen another vendor. Not sure if it’s the Vietnam shell with an upgraded liner and headband. But it looks nice.

When the ads were getting bad over a year ago someone recommended using Duckduckgo browser app. It seems to strip the ads away. When the page wouldn’t load on my I-phone. (Only computer I have now) through safari. I use that app and it seems to work fine.
Long story short. If you have issues...
Hail storm a few days ago followed by days of rain. So it was cleanup today in my Smithbilt Scout. Used some hair spray on it earlier in the season to stiffen it up. May have to shell out the big bucks to get some actual hat stiffener.

I went to the actual Dr Marten store last pair I got. Tried on at least 6 pair till I found one that fit like a glove. Sizing was…. Inconsistent. But if you have the time it was well worth it for me. They fit fantastic.

style has a lot to do with it. I am at the age I want that nostalgia. I still find them comfortable. And for the price point they are in line with similar boots like Blundstone and timberland. I own multiple boots and shoes so I never wear the same pair two days in a row so they last for years...
Nice fedora. Now the sunglasses you can just buy some prescription sunglasses. Shop around, my local Costco is a good price with actual Raybans in stock.
Or you can always find the classic clip on.
Hope that helps

I get a little bit of that but I am in a very dry environment. I try and remember to put my Panama hats in the bathroom while I shower to get them all nicely steamed up.

So the original one was a thin piece of plastic wrapped in cotton with velcro adjustment at the back. I liked the cotton to pull the sweat away from my head so it would not drip down my face. So I wanted to make something similar.
The sweatband is roughly the width of a ruler so I used that...
Came out to enjoy the quiet morning. Four bluejays came to enjoy breakfast. Have a drink of water. Then a bath. So I think I need to wear my Bluejays cap today.
