I used to have a size 46 but it was far too large for me so I sold it, I'm looking to get a 42. Eastmans sweater, while an excellent garment on its own merits, doesnt actually bear any resemblance to the actual "frocks" used in the RAF in WW2. The frocks, while made of cream coloured wool, had...
I emailed Gary about the sweaters and this was his (really quick) response:
"Yes, we will be getting more of these, but not until end Summer/early Autumn (I would expect mid September). We are completely out of stock at the moment which is why the sweater has been taken off the site, but they...
My recently aquired 1944 Bulova A-11. Its my first vintage watch and I was surprised to see how small it was compared to my modern watches. but I love it.
IMHO, do you think a Highwayman of that length would look good? Its meant to be a short jacket and increasing its length drastically like that might ruin its "look". If your looking for a longer jacket Aero does sell a long half-belt, the top half of which similar to the Highwayman. Just my two...
Anyone know the story on the current availability of the Eastman sweater? For the longest time all sizes were listed as sold out, and now they have completely removed the product listing from the website. Is this temporary until they restock or have they stopped selling them permanently?
A cooper jacket like that will usually be in the ballpark of 100 dollars at auction. The patches may or may not be detrimental to the price, alot of people just aren't into them.
Can any Hartmann owners testify as to the thickness of the grey plaid lining? Is it comparable to say, the cotton lining in an A-2 or is it thicker than that?
Not a bad looking jacket, but it always surprises me when companies expect you to buy a 1000-1200 dollar jacket based solely on one small 2 inch by 2 inch photograph. Seems like alot of the big repro makers are guilty of this.
That lining is gorgeous, I love it. I'll make sure to remember it when I decide to buy a long half-belt in the future. Some other the other linings like the red or green tartans are a bit loud for my tastes but this one is very very nice.
Hey Johnny, where in SW Ontario are you? Im up around North York, Im not going to recieve my ELC Hartmann probobly till the end of May but I hope to still be able to give it some wear through the summer. With a Highwayman you should still be able to get some wearing time after you get it.
Nice jacket, a wild guess would be late 50's-early 60's, judging by that lightning main zip, I have an RCAF flight suit from that era thats covered in them.
On the same note, has anyone else ordered from Eastman recently? They say 7-8 weeks on the site but I'd like to hear anyone elses account if they have one.
By all accounts Aero is extremely backed up at the moment, with a wait time of roughly 2 months from what I hear. Seems like Eastman is in the same boat as well, wait times are up to 7-8 weeks there as well.
Having convinced myself that I absolutely MUST have a light spring/summer/fall jacket, I broke down and ordered a black Hartmann from ELC in a 42 long. I got it more for the late 30's, early 40's French bike jacket style, than the Luftwaffe connection, its just a classic looking jacket. My...
No not a dumb question at all. As far as I know no maker has reproduced a coastal command jacket. However, I'm sure Aero would do one if you asked them to.
Very nice Luftwaffe jacket cloudspotter, Im hoping to get the Hartmann model myself sometime in the next couple months, Im currently agonizing over the sizing though, not sure whether to go go for a 42 long or 42 extra long. (adds an 1" and 1 1/2" repectively to torso and arms)
