    Hat blocks/shapers/home made?...

I made a block out of styrofoam with a reverse taper so I can "block" the hat with sweatband still on. My mistake was following the hat's natural oval and not making it a round oval like my head shape...

    Christy's of London

Has anyone here been caught in the rain with their Christy's? When I mean rain, I do mean rain. Perhaps a pic or a short tale of how the hat handled getting wet would be nice.

Would "Raiders" have been as popular if the character had been hatless?

Actually, wearing a felt hat in a hot and humid jungle might also be too much for both the hat and the wearer... but hey, it's what made Indy's image so iconic! The hat defined how Indy looks... it never defined the film's story.

The Dumbest Comment I Ever Heard

Could it be that it was actually HIS party? And he got depressed spending it with people he didn't know? That's probably why he was drunk... and Maj. Nick Danger is right, alcohol does account a great deal to how people act. Even the meekest and most gentle people can become a person's worst...

    Summer fedora

So the Christy's is thicker than the HJ felt? All this time I thought they used the same felt.

    Mad about Hats

I agree on the first post. I've rarely seen Johnny Depp wear a stingy brim. Try doing a Google Image Search with the keywords, "johnny depp fedora" and you'll see he wears wide-brimmed ones.

Adventurebilt Henry - Any one got one?

I think the rabbit/beaver blend of the henry makes it floppy (just the way an indy hat should be) and have finish comparable to a full beaver felt hat. I think you really need to be into Indy to appreciate the hat.

Adventurebilt Henry - Any one got one?

The Henry is a rabbit - beaver blend which ultimately means it will be more durable. I'd love to own one, but it's really not in my price range.

Why is my crown so soft?

On the "steamer" thread, I told the story of accidentally steaming my hat's crown when my car overheated. The steam hit the tip of the crown... exactly where the front pinch I've been trying to fix was. At first I thought, "hmmmm... I gotta give this a try." I removed my hat and steamed the...

Why is my crown so soft?

You could try hair spray on the hat... I've heard of some people using Aqua Net or something like it to stiffen the felt. Felt is basically hair, right? *ADDENDUM* Don't use too much, though... Aside from the smell, too much hair spray might STIFFEN the felt too much and leave residue of some...

    Steamer or kettle?

Yep. I knew that... But the car has been just running on water for the past 2 years - no anti-freeze (tropical country...) or coolant - just pure H2O.

Great looking hat! I've been wanting to buy that exact same color... Those pics may just be what makes me take the next step!

    Steamer or kettle?

How.about an overheated car's radiator? Don't laugh, but that happened to me a few days ago. The steam from the radiator hit the crown of my hat so as I waited for it to cool down I reshaped the front pinch since it was a little low... I tried a couple of times to reshape it before but it...

    Help me identify this fedora?

I know I'm replying to an old post... but... These are the most common hats sold here. I don't even think it's real straw. Looks and feels synthetic in my opinion. I see a lot of these being sold in malls and even outside stalls. They go for about less than $2.00 as far as I know. If you...

Be careful singing "My Way" in the Phillippines

I'm from the Philippines and even I don't understand what causes people to go crazy over that song. There was a news show that tackled that question just last Sunday. Although, it usually just happens in seedy videoke (we call it that instead of karaoke) places where most of the patrons are...
