Actually, there's no problem. It's just big for me that's why I thought it would make a great "exaggerated" Raiders hat. It's a very nice hat and got it almost brand new. And don't worry, I got a really super-duper great deal on the hat.
I'm starting to like the way it looks on my head...
I'm too far away and I have this strange DIY thing... I always wanna try and do stuff on my own. It usually ends up as a "Destroy It Yourself" project, but at least I learned something.
I DIY'ed my car audio system and ended up screwing up making a fiberglass enclosure for my subwoofer and...
It looks bigger than the Fed IV and it's really loose. I got it 2nd hand from Texan Scott at COW... It has a possibility to be an exaggerated Raiders hat in my opinion.
Well, I don't stay that long outdoors. I'm usually in an air-conditioned mall. If I have to stay outdoors for a long time, I at least find a shady spot so I can remove the hat and fan myself with it.
Not really... just wondering if it was possible.
But I might go that route to make the PB hat fit better without having to use 2 foam strips and probably get an exaggerated Raiders look.
I was thinking just that, but was a little wary about using steam since steam rises and it might not get concentrated on the bottom of the crown and I might end up tapering the top of the crown.
I was actually thinking of getting the bottom of the crown wet then using a hair-dryer to...
Here in the Philippines we only have two kinds of weather... HOT or HOT & RAINY.
I still wear fur felt despite the weather. I take it off when I'm too hot and use the hat as a fan - hehehe.
There are tons of straw hats here (ranging from dirt cheap to $100 panama hats), but none I've...
I was just wondering if this was possible...
Can you in fact attempt to shrink only one part of the hat? Particularly the bottom of the crown to form a sort of reverse taper...
Anyone ever try this either by accident or intentional? What steps / techniques did you use?
I do not even have 1/4 the guts to do that to my Fed IV... Nnnooooooo way.
I was even afraid for my hat while walking 4 to 5 blocks in the rain, what more if I did that.
My Fed IV Deluxe was drenched in the rain yesterday. I had to walk 4 blocks in heavy rain to get to the car. I was worried about it getting soaked through the felt, but fortunately the underside of the brim (and most probably the inside of the crown) didn't get wet.
While walking, the water...
Hmmm... I never thought about doing that. I'll try to post pics later.
The hat on the right? That's the Peters Brothers. At first I thought it was huge... But I think it was just an illusion. I guess it was because it hasn't conformed to my head yet.
Had a similar experience just a few hours ago while taking a tour of Intramuros; Manila's walled city (here in the Philippines).
As the tour ended, it began to rain really hard. Problem was the car was a couple of blocks away so me and my sister had to brave the elements and walk through the...
Here's my "tapered" Christy's Adventurer; it took months of my country's tropical summer heat, a few light rain showers, getting accidentally sat on and falling on the ground.
Here it is compared to my Fed IV Deluxe to show the taper...
Comparing it to the red lines, you'll see the...
