I'm also a headshaver and only my work hats have a little oil that came through the bands onto the felt. I don't like the celephane head liners and usually cut them out because they stick to the top of a smooth head.
As a kid I loved going over to my granddaddy's house and try on his hats. Loved the smell of those old hats. A couple years ago we ran across some photos of him wearing his hats and the idea hit it's probably time to buy one for myself. Love the smell of my felt hats:) Love wearing'em too...
Nice folks at Miller. I've bought two hats from them by mail. I'd love to walk in both Miller and Peter's Bros. and try on lots of hats. Wish we had a retail hat store here.
That's interesting. I'm a retired city fireman, and we always went into long sleeve shirts on Sept. 15th and into short sheeves on May 15th. The tradition must have been passed down by hat dates.
Yes, I bought the Baldwin brand new. My understanding is that Biltmore make s the Miller hats, and I think it's a very nice hat. I like the firm feel to the hat, yet the felt is soft and smooth..and thin. I'll buy more Millers
A couple things I've learned already...I like the narrow brims and lower crowns. That makes buying easier in the future. My avatar hat is a Miller Baldwin with a cut down brim (2") I just cut a Squatter down to 2 3/8". Another thing I have discovered is that I like a moderately priced hat. It...
Sure...I sleep in a lightweight wool toboggin during the cold months. We turn the heat down at night, and my noggin gets cold without it. A few years ago I looked around for a Ebeneezer Scrooge type nightcap with no luck. Some men still sleep in nightgowns too.
