Received my Quartermasters 42-18775-P, russet horse TODAY!. It too has a brass zip, looks ok but does not seem to quite look right some how. However, love the jacket, quite a snug fit. Anyone know if its chrome or veg tanned? Does not smell like my FQHH Highwayman when it was new and that was...
Thanks all for your comments. On impulse I have ordered Aero's Quartermasters A2 (42-18775-P) in Russet. Would have liked the jerky russet but that wasn't on the menu. At £385 + pp its a good price. There were just too many doubts about BK from other Loungers I thought it best to go with what I...
Hi Loungers
I would like to buy my first proper A2. I own an Aero Highwayman so Aero are naturally my first choice, (particularly as they are apparently to be soon making-up some jackets from old stock leather to go in their sale pages) but i have just discovered BK jackets and the reviews...
Hi capesofwrath
I don't have a steerhide jacket but i do have an A2 made from cow (similar to Steer i suspect) and a Highwayman in FQHH. They are both very different in respect of how the hides develop and change. My A2 is far more "wrinkly" and has less of a shine to it than the FQHH but is...
So glad i'm not the only one with that peculiar fetish. I often get out my Scott Willis HH wallet and inhale! Had it some 6 months now but it still retains that lovely aroma.
A leather jacket will never keep you warm in Winter, best have two jackets, sheepskin Irvin style jacket for Winter and a leather one for cool/warmer days. Can't go wrong with Aero, the Highwayman has that timeless appeal you're looking for i think.
Sorry if i offended anyone, i never intended to. Some times it can be difficult to hold back when a particular subject stirs you. Thank you Feraud for your more "measured" response to my comments
As for replacement linings for carrying such implements, i'v no idea, sorry. How about a holster...
A tragedy for sure, but surley if everyone was'nt armed to the teeth in the first place that particular incident might never of happened (or all the other's which seem to happen in the USA on such a regular basis).
Sorry HD but a little lively debate is a good thing is'nt it, freedom of speech...
Thanks Casper
When you say heavy, heavy same as an Aero FQHH Highwayman for example? just trying to gauge how heavy, certainly would'nt want it any heavier than my Highwayman. Shame they don't have the colour i like in their 1.5 mil cow leather.
Thanks again

Hi Casper
I have been looking for some information about the Cirrus A2 in Heavy Steerhide. I already have a Cirrus Defender (Irvin style sheepskin) that is a real beaut, so i know they make nice stuff. I had been a little indecisive about the hide and colour, my original order was for their...
My first leather jacket was a paper thin bomber style jacket i brought in Turkey in the early 80's. Not sure what the hide was, maybe lamb as it was so thin and tore easily. Lost in the mists of time now. Never got another leather jacket until some 20 years later, a Mall jacket! Have since...
What did you go for in the end? Yes the shipping is the only downside, really makes it quite expesive but like with a lot of stuff from the USA (in my experience anyway) you just can't get the same quality and "coolness factor" else where. I'm sure you will not regret it though, i love mine.

Sorry Griff i made a mistake, its the Vintage Pack i have not the Woodsmans Pack. However they are similar in size. The Vintage pack is similar to my Book Pack in that its simple in desigin. The Vintage pack i would not say is too large for a picnic (depending on the size of your picnic of...
Go back to Frost River, look at their Book Pack. Its perfect for a day pack, just thr right size, internal zipped pocket, easy to open and close. Looks totally cool as well.
Thanks again HD appreciate your indepth reply. I'm looking forward to getting the jacket now (around 8 weeks). In the mean time i'll continue to wear my Highwayman (brown FQHH) which is breaking in very nicely.
Cheers

Thanks HD, your jacket looks fantastic, its reassured me i'v made the right decision choosing Jerky Russet. Are those knits dark brown? Do you think the mid brown would look ok?
Cheers

Thanks HoosierDaddy, your thoughts and advice are always most welcome. I cannot view your pics (works computer will not allow it!) at the moment but i will look at them tomorrow. I went for the Bronco as you regular Fedora posters suggested this is a happy compromise, not too tight or too baggy...
Thanks for that Michael. Of course you are right, you can dwell on these things too much but at £500. a jacket i want to get it right. I'm trying to have a look at VLJ site but have to registar first.
Appreciate your thoughts.

Hi all
I'm a third of the way into my order wait time and am having doubts about my order. I ordered the Bronco in Jerky Russet with mid brown knits but now i'm unsure if this will look good on me or not (i'm 47 and think this has a bearing on it!?). I chose this colour option based on Aero's...
