That's a snazzy piece of headwear, Paddy! My dad used to wear something similar and I have fond memories of trying on his cap as a kid (way too big for me then of course.). I wish I knew what happened to that one after he passed away. He never had anything bigger then a rowboat to "sail", but...
We have always been a cat family and both me and my sibilings had cats for pets since we where born. I think our cats was as much part of the family as anyone.
I've heard stories of jelous cats scratching babies in their cradles but it never happened to us. I guess our cats where more mellow...
The label inside those pants don't look like any label I've seen here in Sweden... The pants does look a bit a like the m/39-m/58 type pant but there should be leather straps on the ankles. Also, Swedish army clothes are almost always marked with a triple-crown somewhere. [huh]

Thanks AlanC! I hope you find some photos of your own "hat history" at your parents place and I hope you feel like sharing them with us.
In the meantime, here's another one I found of my dad in a hat - It's a bit more posed then the two I posted before. I guess it was taken a couple of years...
Thanks Doug C.
I would be worried that the boot got damaged by this treatment. But after thinking about it further I realise that it would be ok as long as one doesn't try and dry them out to fast and to hot. [huh]
Got to try this sometime. :)
Cheers

Thanks, bncarter! Funny, my dad was also a aircraft mechanic...but a couple of years after WWII. Finding those pictures was what started my interest in Aviation History.

I found a similar cork strip under the sweatband of a Borsalino I bought here in Sweden. That's where I got the idea. If 1/8 is too thick for you, it's easy to sand it down.

I found these table mats... whatchacallem? The things you put under your dinner plates? Anyway, They are 1/8 inch thick, made of chrushed cork. True cork or not? I have no idea. They smell like cork. [huh]
IKEA, of course. :)

Thanks for sharing your photos, silhouette53! :eusa_clap
Why is it that Flying Legends always come when I have no money and the tickets to England are expensive? :( One day I'll be there... one day.
Btw: Did the Fw 190 fly or was it just static?

Sorry to hear that. But,
David Morgan offers extra hat feathers: http://www.davidmorgan.com/product_info.php?products_id=70
If that doesn't work for you, try the fishing tackle shops. The people that bind their own fly's often has a selection of bright feathers at hand. Just a thought...
