Thanks Tony. Yeah, you are bang on target. He'd just turned 60 when he passed away. I'm glad to have the photos but also glad to have met some of his friends, from back before he married mom, that told me a little bit about the guy he was then... quite different from the man I knew.
/F
lol Yeah, you don't see something like that often today.
He must have been 19-22 in these shots. I would have loved to meet him back then. He loved aircraft and had just come back from the Air Force where he'd worked as a mechanic on the Beechcraft 18 and the Norseman.
Thanks for the hat...
Growing up I heard a lot about my dad wearing hats when he was younger but as far back as I can remember I never saw him in anything but his beloved Greek skipper cap. He passed away in 1987, and of course, I never thought to ask him about this while he was alive.
Fast-forward 20 years and my...
Yeah, I would probably do something similar. If you are going to use it, it is more important that it feels right then look right.
If you are looking for a new frame (or a compleat rucksack) I can reccomend this place: Active Life Eq., they have the m/39 rucksack for $15/$6 (new/used)...
Anyone here read Andrew Vachss?
His modern noir hero, Burke has a "puppy" who is first described like this:
"... she's a Neapolitan mastiff - about 140 pounds of vicious muscle and dumb as a brick. If her entire brain was high-quality cocaine, it wouldn't retail for enough to buy a decent...
I wish I knew, Doug. I think I used this kind of rucksack during my days in the Swedish Airforce (if memory serves, they where still in use as late as 1986), but for my life I can't remember if we had any problems with the straps being the "wrong" way... probably not, as something like that...
Kinda tiny
Well, I got them today and they are...
... not quite what I was hoping for. :D
A bit feminine, sure but I can live with that. My main greif is that they are too small for my face.
Oh well, one can't win all the time.
Anyone with a smaller head interested in buying...
Sweeeeeeet!
Thanks Smithy for posting these! I REALLY have to visit this museum. I hear you have spend a couple of days there if you want to see everything.
Laughed out loud when I saw that goat with colored horns! A novel take on "nose art". :)
Cheers

PLEASE DO!!!
Modern "hairdryers" like the F-16 doesn't get my pulse racing for some reason. [huh] But being close enough to an military airfield to smell the fumes does. :D
I'm lucky enough to have a friend who is the curator of a small museum outside the city where I live. He's...
Yes, Smithy. You have a point about the 262 trainers and NFs. *doh* Forgot about those. :o
Arghhh! The Bod?? museum! I've been planning to go there so many times but something always comes in between. Apart from the Mossie FB you have some real goodies there. *mental note to self: Plan trip...
