These jackets are really amazing. They differ from Aero in that they're much tighter through the shoulders, chest, lower chest and back. The differ from Vanson in that they're, like Wade said above, straighter. Where Vanson jackets get larger as you go up the torso, these jackets are about...
the batwing effect is just a reality with the Aero Slimfit jackets. You can mitigate the effect through proper sizing (I agree your 1st jacket was too large on you), but you'll never truly get rid of it. Nice specs. on the new one!
Size 42 1930s Slimfit Halfbelt is, at stock length, no added length, neck seam down the back to the bottom hem, 24". Just measured one yesterday! I have no idea what a Highwayman's length is. I would imagine the Highwayman would seem shorter, as JanSolo stated, because the 1930s halfbelt is...
Here's a photo of the plaid:
Thanks for your advice on the inner pockets! I definitely don't want the jacket bunching. I want it as slim as possible. I guess I'll 86 the inner pockets from the jacket's specifications.
The Stuart is a whole different cut than the 1930s Slimfit Halfbelt. I'd say it's almost a size and a half larger. But, it's more than that. It's just a fuller cut. I don't think I could even wear a regular Stuart jacket. The cut is just too full. The Aero website says nothing about this...
I sat down with Carrie from Insurrection today for about two hours going over all of my options for a Slimfit Aero Stuart jacket. I have tried on the regular Stuart jacket at Insurrection and the fit was just too "full" and it looked like I was drowning in horsehide...:eusa_doh:
So, here's...
I have yet to see the Aero goat in person. I'd love to see it...I've seen the Langlitz goat and wasn't a big fan.
It would be cool to see some "broken-in" pictures of this jacket. The jacket has probably been worn quite a bit by now.
The Insurrection D-pocket is so SICK! The way they do the back, just like they do the Aero cafe' racers, is such a nice touch. It reminds me of a vintage (1940s, 1950s) Grais or Indian Ranger jacket. I'd venture to say that Insurrection has outdone what Buco put out as the cream-of-the-crop...
Insurrection can order the jacket for you in any color that you'd like. Also, Insurrection does have Aero cafe' racers consistently in stock, so if you need a particular measurement on a particular size, no problem. You can get any options that you want, and Insurrection will definitely run...
If I was ever going to own a flight jacket, I had always wanted a G1. I'm not a flight jacket buff, so I never really knew what I should look for with the G1s.
I really do like this jacket though, and it looks great on you! As usual, great photos!
BTW, great redlines...!
Just call Insurrection on the phone. They're the pros when it comes to this, given the sheer amount of vintage and new cafe' racers they've worked with over the years, and probably know of more options than Aero does. Plus, you'll save a ton of time! Price is equivalent.
Thanks H&D! Yes, the jacket is Insurrection's house brand, a Pacific Cycle Leathers jacket, that is patterned after a late-'60s Brimaco cafe' racer. The zippers are YKK (with a double-ended main zipper, just like the vintage Brimaco jackets!). Carrie, bless her heart, did the stripes on the...
My wife surprised me with this beautiful, completely custom, cafe' racer for Christmas! I couldn't be more happy. This is the type of cafe' racer that I've always dreamed of having and, after showing my wife an amalgamation of about four cafe' racers in the Rin Tanaka books, she designed this...
Wish it were my size!!! I called Insurrection to see if they had other sizes in stock and this was their last one; hence, the incredible deal!

I'm going to keep my eye out on what they list though...
Just like all of Insurrection's Vanson, Schott, Aero, and awesome vintage jackets, simply beautiful. If you're looking for an incredible leather jacket, I can't recommend Insurrection enough. It isn't a cheap place to shop, but it's the best place to shop.
Well, I think I've converted a friend to the wonderful hobby of leather jackets! I brought him to my favorite hole-in-the-wall, Insurrection in Seattle. He walked out with a gorgeous Aero horsehide cafe racer at 25% off...beginner's luck on the deal and it's a perfect fit :) Thought I would...
Stopped by Insurrection yesterday to check out the wears! I can't believe the Vanson and Aero jackets that they have there...From Vanson CHPs to Vanson Colorado jackets to Vanson PLU-2s/3s to Vanson Model Bs to incredible Aero 1930s Slimfit Halfbelts to Aero Cafe' Racers...and much more...call...
