A-2, part two. Time to go shopping.

I have 2 issued G-1's, 1 LW G-1 (love it) and 2 A-2's in russet HH (USA and LW). Unfortunately, I am a size 50L and off the rack usually won't work and that also means original A-2s or G-1s are very hard to come by. As some others have said, goat is great when space is limited. HH, especially LW...

USN Deck Jackets period / repop

That is very similar to our deck jackets except the pockets didn't have a flap. But there are several variations. The dark blue rating badge you have is from our dress blues. Your right though, it is a QM (wheels) badge. Funny thing about all of our uniforms, we never could keep anything in our...

USN Deck Jackets period / repop

Looks good. Those jackets didn't keep you very warm though. They were not deck jackets per say. Those blue ones were issued to every sailor regardless if you went to sea. The green ones with corduroy color and wool lining were considered foul weather jackets and usually only issued to deck...

New Lost Worlds Offering: Speed Demon

Many Vanson biker jackets have split backs to them and they hold up just fine in low-side get offs. I have two LW jackets. One is a HH Russet A-2 and the other is a Dark Goat G-1. Both are fantastic jackets and would say they are both true to size. Both are 48 in US sizing.

    Military spec M65 Combat Jacket

I was warm in mine with ploy pro or a wooly pooly under it in Misawa. I thought it was a better coat than the gore-tex for cold weather and when wearing a side arm and carrying a long rifle.

    Military spec M65 Combat Jacket

Mine was issued in 1994 in woodland camo. It may have been older than that, but still new in wrapper. I don't have it here. Most of those uniforms are in seabags at my mothers house in the attic so I can't check. But I am sure there was no hook and loop on the cuffs. Time does funny things to...

    Military spec M65 Combat Jacket

I know mine had button cuffs. The only uniform I ever was issued with hook and loop was the new Army ACUs. All of my other BDUs had either buttons or zippers. I do know the GEN III GORE-Tex stuff had hook and loop closings. A lot of the new pouches and such that we attached to our plate carriers...

    Military spec M65 Combat Jacket

Howdy karhu21, This sounds exactly like my M65 coat down to the button cuffs and reinforced elbows. Mine was issued to me in 1998. So maybe it's the model year that has all of those features. R/ David

    Wow, Schott new website

Wow! Schott prices just seem to go up and up and up over the last couple of years. I wanted to purchase a HH Cafe racer in a tall size a few years ago from them. I thought it was pricey at $450. It looks like most of their prices have almost doubled since then. Looks like I will stick with my...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

Big J, not knowing where in JPN you are exactly, if you are near Yokosuka or Sasebo, you might find one out in town. For other folks that are looking for newer Peacoates, if you are near Norfolk,VA or San Diego, CA, you might have a good chance of finding them near the bases on the cheap. R/ David

    U.S. Navy bridge coats

I always liked those Bridge coats. So much nicer than our all weather coats. Even though they are warm with the liner zipped in. I miss the old blue wooly pulley sweaters. Didn't Brooks Bros take over the contract for most of the dress uniforms?

    Doc Martens v Solovair

Thanks for the reply. I went and checked out both websites. Solovair has nothing on the US side. The Dms site does tell you which ones are made in the UK. Great avatar BTW. David

    Doc Martens v Solovair

I was in Lord & Taylors a while back and they sell Docs as well. How about that for a twist. I got my first pair in 1993 in a Docs store in Singapore. They lasted about a year of almost daily wearing. I really want another pair but how do you know which ones are NOT made in the UK?

New Aero Original Hercules review, with fit pics

That is a great looking jacket indeed. Fit is spot on IMHO. I was thinking of going through Thurston Bros for my Vanson simply because they offer the fit jacket. When you are spending that much money for a jacket, you want it to be right the first time. More so if you are ordering it on-line...

Those are some interesting laces you have your 403's. What are they if you don't mind?

    Show us your vintage half-belts

Trapp, That is a great looking jacket. You might try asking Aero if they will re-line it for you. I know they do work on their own jackets, not sure about other makers though.

Flightjacket HH A-2 size 50, Aero Halfbelt HH size 50

I have an older (2008) Flighjackets A-2 HH size 50 up for sale. The jacket looks almost new since I only wore a few times. For some reason Safari and Firefox won't let me post pics, but I am more than happy to send a few e-mails. I am asking $250 USD. I also have a Aero Halfbelt HH size 50...
