The Official Panama Hat of the Kentucky Derby

I wish Panador would have pushed Montecristis onto the cover. And I love this: http://www.panadorhats.com/montecristi-panama-hats-of-cuenca

Panama hats with folded and sewn brims

The ebay hat gamblers are with a fold over. I didn't ask for that, but that's what they sent. Montecristis are never and the Cuenca page Gamblers aren't either. Someone is working on my site, so we'll see what magic he has in improving the photos.

Panama hats with folded and sewn brims

Parabuntal? Balibuntal? I'm sure the seller is a member here...maybe he can 'splain it.

Panama hats with folded and sewn brims

Wow! For $218, you'd have a whale of a Cuenca Brisa. I can't tell exactly what it is, but that's what it reminds me of.

Panama hats with folded and sewn brims

On one hand, the folded over brim is a shortcut from some companies in Cuenca....and I tell them that. They try to save $.50 per hat by doing that. Some of the hats we bought from a new supplier this year were about 50/50 folded over/regular backweave. I tried to make it clear to them that I...

Keeping secrets while a craft dies out

John, you're way off base accusing Art of anything. The stories I've heard about you are from the coasts and south of me, but most certainly not from Art. I told you I didn't like the stories and was weary in getting into selling you bodies. One saving grace was a rescue call from Germany...

In Peru highlands, schoolkids must now wear hats against sun's harmful rays

Ah, Arequipa. I love that place.

A Panama Hat worthy of FDR

I've received 3 emails because of this link within the last week. Nobody wants to shell out $1600 for a similar hat! :)

    Panama Hat Thread

It's the finishing done by the hat company. The Caballero is a better woven hat and the finish just isn't as nice as the Cuencano. The difference between the two compnies varies from each of their hats, but the company doing the Cuencano just doesn't have the Caballero plates for their...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Looks like a Cuenca Llano Liso, folded over and sewn edge. THey doubled their money.

    Panama in a Homburg block?

I'll do that. I have a contact who makes the feathers, but haven't pulled the plug. Looks great!

    Panama in a Homburg block?

The band in your avatar...is it made of feathers? Do you have a larger photo? :eusa_clap

    Panama in a Homburg block?

That's a nice style. I think I'll send a photo down to both Cuenca and Montecristi (Buler's hat) and see what they say. I've been getting emails about this style lately.

Apparently, straw hats don't have snap brims

Please, just ask me what you'd like me to answer. I have several models/colors on the teardrops. I'm not trying to deceive on the photo. If you have a brown band coming, the hat is natural. I get 30-40-50 emails a day asking questions and I have a full time job. If I was asking $80.00 for...

Apparently, straw hats don't have snap brims

Check your spam box. I answer each email that comes. I spend an enormous amount of time answering questions and I'm sorry that you didn't get to read my replies. Some day, I'll change all of the email links to robert@panamas.biz because it seems that panamaecuador@yahoo.com goes straight to...
