Haha. I was going for a cool, old west stare type of face but you obviously saw right through that. Neat wedding/snow pics you had. Our winter has been lacking the usual snowfall but it's all good as long as we get some good rain.
All this talk of Boss Raw Edge got me thinking I may own one and didn't even know it. It had tiny sweat stitches (which have been removed and replaced w/a sweatband but the hat could still use a clean and block and a ribbon too.
Thanks everyone for all the well wishes.
Jeff, very cool pics. Wear that one anywhere.
Joao, make sure you make plenty of occasions to wear it. If not, it's just a piece of a collection.
I probably won't be posting any pics of her but,..........we just had a baby girl! She is healthy and cute as well. Maybe she'll put her own pics up someday if she's a hat wearer.
Nice one Renault. You could be from a different time.
I'm on and off the lounge in cycles and I remembered that I had a very old, no-name western which I haven't shown yet. It had some scattered remnants of a sweatband with very tiny stitches, a dark ring where the medium ribbon used to be, and...
Looks really great. I probably would purchase this hat, rather than a blue grass Akubra, because of your description and pics. Thanks for the thorough sneak peak and it looks good on the noggin shot too.
"... if you're a noob, you may want to get your feet wet with a couple of readymade hats first."
Now that is some advice you should take before dropping $300 plus, Konadog. I had a hat made because I was impatient and now looking back, I was not at all educated enough to tell someone to make me...
:eusa_doh:Tommy, Hello. I've heard of straw hats, felt hats and even baseball caps...but I've never heard of anachronistic hats. Must be another trend I'm unaware of.
Hello and welcome PVQ.
After walking into the greasy spoon and to your seat, in one fluid motion, going from standing to sitting down, you grab your hat with your right hand. Secondly, you pronate the hand holding the hat while straitening your arm, so as to hold the hat brim-down and down to...
I just saw a hat just like this boater and it seemed so old compared to mine that I'm starting to think mine isn't quite as old as I thought.
Any thoughts on the age of my Portis??
How I found it with ribbon over the top of the original ribbon.
Original ribbon.
Inside logo.
Sweat.
Neat weave...
I shaped this western hat into a Australian like hat in my opinion. I trimmed the brim down but you wouldn't want to according to the pic that you're showing.
Well, the chap in the photo does seem to be having a better day than me. I think focusing on what hat you could shape like that would be a an attainable goal.
Akubra comes to mind. You can certainly get a deal on a pre-owned, brown cowboy hat and shape it just like that. Make sure it is a felt...
Ok not new by far but I just showed it so here's the original and well preserved black ribbon. Next year it will be brought out into the sun to roar again. (Like the '20s did—OK, maybe not that much.)
