Just picked up this 1976 Imperial USN G-1 in dark russet steerhide with non-mouton Dynel collar. Super-thick, super grainy leather, beautifully broken-in, excellent condition (especially for a 50-year old jacket!). All my other G-1 jackets are goatskin and I’ve always wanted one of these steerhide beasts. Found this size 48 and snagged it for $100. Happy to add this to my collection!

Back story makes this one 10/10.

Hello, I'm back after an extended absence. I figured I'd pop in with a picture. I was recently looking for a plain cotton jacket for summer wear and decided to pick up this Ralph Lauren Bayport. I'm pleased with its classic fit; I was concerned it would be too long in the body, but I think it's a near ideal fit. 20260609_133812.jpg

Back story makes this one 10/10.
I got like 20 different pieces of information on him. Just too much to write here. Military records, accident report, muster rolls etc. also personal details, marriages etc. next July will be 62 years since his separation from service. I’ll be able to get his personal file under the freedom of information act at that point.

Cool jacket in its own right, the pilots story just makes it sweet.

Sorry for the lackluster pictures, looked fine on the phone... anyway the jacket is from Double Helix Works and the model is called Frisco :)

I've been eyeing this one since I got rid of my Y2-leather last year, so when I found this one for a great price I took the plunge :D

I'll write a review and post some better pictures over at the DH-thread later, but first impressions are great! and I'm starting understand all the praise Double Helixs gets around here :)

Nice puller shape on it, reminds me of a 40s Talon. Ugly, modern zipper pullers ruin a lot of classic jackets still in production, imo; nice to see RL gonig the extra mile here. Really elevates the whole look imo.
