Soviet pilot jacket; horsehide or?

Hello! I bought this Russian pilot jacket. After a bit of research I know it's called a shevretka jacket.

I'm curious about what type of leather it's made of. I know there are more modern reproductions but this seems quite old based on the conditions.

Wondering if there are any vintage soviet military experts that can help me figure this out.

Very nice jackets and yours is an original piece. They were made from goatskin, as was mostly all Soviet military leather apparel (that wasn't fur, of course).
