FYI: Ciano Farmer is doing a 15% off sale this long weekend. His stock on denim is a little depleted right now, but there are a few nice ones in stock and lots of canvas.

Everything is hand-made by Ciano and takes about four months, but that’s nothing for people who wait for custom jackets and boots. There is an initial up charge for altering a pattern, but only once - he saves that custom pattern for you, for future orders.

Construction is out of this world. It’s a small thing, but I love the super heavy yet soft canvas pocket bags and the reinforced lining on the back pockets.

I have a pair of jeans that started cutting this week and another in the queue the high-waist straight leg miner cut with a little extra room at the cuff for covering boots.

It was cold yesterday, so I broke out my Iron Heart 888 23oz UHR jeans. They're well worn in now, but they're too heavy/too stiff and the fit just isn't right on me. I'd buy jeans made from IH's signature 21oz fabric again, which I really liked when worn in, but I wouldn't go heavier. I regret spending as much as I did on this pair, as they aren't a pleasure to wear, though the construction is delightful.

The past few years I've mostly worn Levi's 541, and they fit me perfectly. I have big thighs and a big ass from decades of sport and weightlifting, and they're the only jeans I've owned as an adult that really fit me well. The 541 Premiums are nicer than the regular ones, but Levi's don't sell them outside of the US. Horrible Levi's also add on a 300% premium to the price of the their jeans in some countries, which offends me. Worse than IH UK's doubling of IH Japan's prices...

Hi guys. Just a quick question about pocket depth. Any makers out there with bigger front pockets? I have some Brave stars and I just stuck an opened tape measure in the front pocket. I get 7" deep on both my pairs. I wish they were a little bigger. I am really tempted to bite the bullet and step up my raw denim game. Kinda curious about the Iron Hearts? And some of the other brands out there?

I'm with you on the ultra heavies. I thought I'd appreciate the challenge of breaking in the IH 25 oz jeans, but it's a lot of work and not very fun at all.

Yeah, it's just a bit silly, isn't it? They make a noise as I walk! They'll be reserved for days when the temps drop below 0. They need a crotch repair, though, and the local places think they're too heavy to darn. IH will apparently give it a go themselves, so I might look into that.

Ih are not particularly deep. In the past i was looking for deep pockets and Levis were the best I came up with.
