Headed to work with my old Peters Brothers (1932). It’s not my best hat and in no way is the felt pristine. But it has character to spare. Like me, it just is what it is. We relate.

The chances of me getting a true vintage Whippet seemed slim, so I had Mike Miller make me one in the mean time.

Thanks, Mike. Rick offered and I took him up on the contrasting stripe on the bow keeper. It really is a glorious hat and Rick is a consummate gentleman.

Yes, the scribing is under the liner. I took the hat to Peters Brothers last summer and Brad Peters pulled the liner looking for writing. Brad said “Tom (Tom Peters - one of the original Peters Brothers) would always write the hat information directly on the inside felt under the liner.”

Today's straw is a Stetson "Jenkins Montecristi" Panama.
It has a nice fine weave. Only wish it had a leather sweatband like the "Forty Eight", instead of the fabric (atleast it is not flowery like the "Thornton").

Out this mornng in a new black-and-white Five Points cotton and silk blend cap. The Well Dressed Head acquired the material from a famous silk textile concern in Bangkok. It has texture and a softness that is very unique. I took pics yesterday that I am sharing.

Question: I've noticed that some Whippets aren't marked as such in the liner, only in the sweatband, and viceversa...
Is this a way to trace their age?
